“Not a top game for me, but very nice game that gives you a unique role (and opportunity to create a character yourself). The puzzles are better than Taxidermiste (and without the flow issues), but I'd recommend Taxidermiste for its overall experience, costuming and storytelling. (But make Grand Hotel your Parisian priority!)”

“After playing the magician for the first time, I let myself be tempted by the full experience bringing together the brand's two rooms. I was curious to see what the transition would be that would bring together a magic room and a horror room, and I was not disappointed! Thrills and anxiety guaranteed! We find ourselves immersed in a story that gives us the impression of playing in a horror film. The actors are very good and take us into their world at a disconcerting speed! The mechanisms, the puzzles, the settings... nothing is left to chance. It’s genius! Quickly a third room!!! One thing is certain, it is that the city of martyrs has many surprises in store for us!”

“We loved the Magician side of the experience but were more meh on the Funhouse. The Magician has fun actor interactions, a chance to put on costumes, interesting puzzles, and a cohesive storyline. The Funhouse has a hall of mirrors and a "chased by a killer" element. There were many opportunities for the Funhouse to explore interesting avenues. That being said, they both manage to build a world in the undergrounds that is detailed and believable. One character was shouting Hamlet lines outside our room (mainly from the soliloquies), and since I teach Hamlet, I shouted them back.”

“The only game I've finished thinking "Wow, those costumes!" Definitely cosplay-able work here :) This is excellent immersive theater and character design that you won't forget easily. While there were some very fun moments and decent puzzles (don't expect top level puzzling here), this game suffers from a lack of signposting, an odd red herring that held us back for 5 minutes, and some stop-and-go plot moments - one of which could have been entirely skipped to leave for tighter, more rewarding gameplay.”

“Traditional escape room with a great setup, agreat in-game character (❤️) and some neat puzzley elements. There were some minor flow issues and an obnoxious (broken?) color-based puzzle (which will have you guessing red, orange and yellows...). Definitely worth playing but put Grand Hotel and Taxidermiste as your first and second choices if you have limited time!”

“This room was very fun! The puzzles were logical and the the room had good flow. My only criticism is that sometimes the puzzles felt instructional (simply following steps). Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed it.”

“We went with 4 and it was a good number for this room. It would be very challenging for just 2 just because of having to do multiple, time-sensitive things at once. Recommend of you're looking for a fun challenge.”

“Another very well thought out room. I don’t want to give spoilers but this room had some curveballs and definitely made it interesting. It is difficult to decide which of their rooms I like best but they all are well planned, creative, and novel. Very enjoyable and can be done with 2 or as a group.”

“10/10 on every metric. No critiques. Easily the best horror game I've played - and in my top 5 all around. The most memorable storytelling mechanic I've seen in the game. Nothing else to say other than: play this ASAP.”

Remember those point-and-click adventure games where you’re locked in a room and have to solve puzzles to find the key and escape? Those online games were the original inspiration for the live escape rooms you’ll find all across the world today. An escape room is an immersive experience where you (and your team of 2 or more people) are locked in a room with a series of puzzles for 60 minutes. To escape and win the game, you have to look for clues, solve the puzzles, and find the key. While most escape rooms only give you 60 minutes to complete the challenge, others may have shorter or longer time limits. Many venues are private rooms where you and your team are the only players. However, some places may pair you with other groups who booked a slot at the same time. And don’t worry about getting stuck, asking for hints on a difficult puzzle is totally normal. While the original escape room (created by SCRAP in 2007) had a fairly simple aesthetic, today’s escape games often take you into a different world. Artistic set designs, secret doors, and unique interactive elements are all part of the fun. It’s like an adventure game that you can interact with in real life. But if you’re hoping to preview any rooms before you book a game somewhere, detailed images and videos can be hard to find. To keep the puzzles a secret and preserve the experience of seeing the room for the first time, most venues only offer a few photos or a short trailer about the room’s theme or narrative. The only way to know what it’s like is to go and try it for yourself!
