Voted Best in Scotland. A Private Investigator, neck deep in a case. He was found in his office late last night, the walls soaked with warm blood and ill intent. The other cops see no sign of foul play, just a man at the end of his tether. But you're not like the other cops: you're detectives. Gritty, hard boiled, and not so quick to take things at face value. What really happened here? what did Max discover? How - and why - did he die? We need you to find out.

“This “escape room” is more like a detective experience. Not a typical solve the puzzles & get out, you are solving a mystery private investigator style. This is pulled off beautifully. We loved our GM Tom and are going back for Radio Nowhere.”

Playing the best of the 70s, 80s, and beyond, Radio Nowhere is the station everyone’s listening to. But when a body turns up in the recording booth, things get deathly silent. Identify suspects, narrow down your lines of investigation, and decipher secret broadcasts. Sounds like a normal enough case, but there’s a catch… The show must go on. Play your tunes, chat to your audience, and catch this killer before it’s too late.

“This escape room is more like playing than escaping. It is a solve the murder like a private investigator while also running the radio station. It is great fun to engage with both sides of the experience, and I would absolutely recommend these rooms”

The year is 1972 and Summerhall is home to The Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies. Advancements in animal medicine have never been so progressive and revolutionary with record breaking numbers of animal organ transplants. Whilst students learn how to perform canine dentistry and the difference between a fur-ball and a swollen lymph gland, a secretive lab at Summerhall is created. The lab known as the Kensie Research Lab or the ‘Secret Lab’ was a marvel of the 70’s with technology that no dog could ever imagine. It contained the very best equipment money could buy and a group of scientists whose work would go down in history. The genius in charge of the lab was Dr. Elsie Kensie, a brilliant bio-scientist, specialising in domestic animals. Her experiments were groundbreaking, her ideas were radical but not everything played out how she hoped. Do you have what it takes to discover the secrets that she was working on and help save the pets of the world?

“Very good puzzlefest of a room. They were kind enough to let us have a go as a two and we certainly didn’t get that close to the end but really enjoyed it. Huge variety of puzzles that were pretty well themed to the story and a real mix. Well hosted by Marge who kindly showed us what we missed. We would recommend a minimum 4, which is exactly what they state unsurprisingly, but however many it’s well worth a go”

In 1987 a series of bizarre murders plagued the city of Edinburgh. Over a span of a few months, 6 victims were found in various closes in the city. The victims were all male, in good physical condition and in their twenties. When dissected it was clear they were all missing an organ but a primitive replacement was found in its place.Just as swiftly as they had started the murders stopped. The police never found out who was behind it all and eventually gave up the case after years of searching. But last night there was an unexpected development in the case, 5 new victims. we don’t know why he’s back, why he’s taking organs but let’s be clear. If we don’t find the missing organs in the next hour 5 men will die. We’re counting on you.

“We did this room as a group of 4 and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I have played locked in games before but in Glasgow not on Edinburgh. We got slightly lost for the location but once we walked through the centre we were greeted with our games host. All of the game hosts at this venue seemed really engaging and passionate about their job, which made all the difference. Although this game did not have live actors you are still facing a fear factor in the room. The room was spacious and we never felt cramped and we were able to split off and solve different tasks in the room. I believe there was every possible lock I have ever encountered at this room. It has an electronic element but was not a heavy room on technology. The story line flowed well and we constantly knew what our aims were to get out of the room. I recommend everyone to do this room, it was an energetic fast paced room with lots of fun throughout! I can’t wait to go back and do another room at this company.”

Delve into the depths of modern day Summerhall, a cultural center for arts and alcohol lovers alike! We’ve partnered up with our neighbours at Pickering’s Gin to create a challenging and immersive experience- Locked in the Distillery. Your mission here is to uncover the identity of the disgruntled employee plotting against the Distillery, find out what they’re up to, save yourself and save the gin!

“Great escape rooms in a cool building (this building was previously an old veterinary clinic). We did The Distillery while on vacation in Edinburgh and had a blast. Out game master was so kind, welcoming, and attentive during our game. He didn't over nudge us and let us have time to figure out the puzzles. The room was well decorated, and it had many different types of interesting puzzles. It was a locks on locks on locks kind of room, but it made sense given the theming. Really enjoyed. Will definitely do another one here the next time we are in Edinburgh!”

Set on the edge of Edinburgh's old surgical district, The Anatomist is an escape game that invites you to descend into a world of grave robbery, mystery and malpractice as you enter the study of a 19th century anatomist. ‍ How has Dr Malcolm been procuring bodies for dissection? What research takes place here late into the night? And what terrible 'crime' did Mr Patterson witness that caused him to flee in fear? Dr Malcolm's journal will reveal all, if you can find it before he returns...

“This game looked really good, pretty immersive set. The puzzles weren’t too difficult but required some teamwork and some out of the box thinking. Not a lot of technical aspects but that suits the olden day theming. Briefing was given in character, the GM was great and very friendly.”

The International Space Station has been hit by a devastating meteor impact, knocking out many of the vital systems on board. Does your team have what it takes to repair the escape pod in time to save the crew - and yourselves?

“We loved every second of this room. We played as a group of 2 and felt there was the perfect amount of puzzles to keep us busy and entertained. Some nice aha! moments that let you feel smart for a second but generally not too tricky and just great fun all round. The puzzles are themed nicely and I imagine this would be a good room to do with kids. Matthew and his associate Steve, from NASA, were a joy and expertly nudged us in the right direction when we just couldn't see it. We'll give this a few months then happily go back and do it all again.”

It’s 1931 and gangsters rule Chicago. The Volstead Act prohibiting the manufacture, transportation, and sale of alcohol is still in force. Rum-runners and bootleggers have mostly kept the city supplied with sub-standard gut-rot gin and bathtub bourbon. Now a large shipment of top-quality Mississippi Moonshine has set off a turf war, with Capone coming out on top, as expected. But before the boss even got a sniff, the booze vanished from his dockland warehouse. He never expected someone would have the cajones to steal it from under his nose. Capone didn’t want his reputation tarnished, so a few of his goons were sent to rattle some cages, but after a week, no little birdies were singing. That’s when he called on his ‘old pal’ private investigator Mick Macy. It wasn’t much of a choice - find the moonshine or find yourself a ‘permanent pillar’ of the community. At the 11th hour, Macy has vanished, the boss is on his way and the moonshine is still missing! It's up to you now! Can you crack the case and escape the mob?

“From start to finish this was an amazing experience. We were giving a superb brief from a character in the story which made us feel fully immersed from the first minute all the way until we escaped. Really nice puzzles that all flowed well during the game, clues were delivered promptly when needed which was great. Highly recommend for all type of teams”

On the 16th of January 1919, the National Prohibition Act (or Volstead Act) was passed prohibiting the manufacture or sale of alcohol anywhere in the USA. Lots of stores and vendors closed down when the new law was passed, but others like Stan and Dell Ivor’s General Store in Chicago continued to sell under the counter. In an effort to crack down on lawbreakers, Stan and Dell were targeted in a police raid, the shop was boarded up and the brothers were each given 5 years in the slammer. The Store was taken over by the Northside gang and became the first blind pig in Chicago. By 1931 Chicago had a well-established black market for all sorts of contraband. Bootleggers and Rum Runners worked with local mobsters to distribute illicit alcohol through a network of secret warehouses, blind pigs, and speakeasies. They mostly dealt in ‘Bathtub Gin’ and ‘Homemade Hooch’, occasionally, a special shipment would come in, and these were usually reserved for the city’s ‘Made men’. Rumour has it that one such shipment was stolen from right under Capone’s nose, and is being stored in ‘The Old Blind Pig’. Capone’s lackeys have been more than clear: Go get his booze back and FAST! You only have an hour before The Old Blind Pig opens for business. The Northside gang are dangerous and you’re not the only one looking for the shipment, so don't get caught, and don't do anything stupid!

How Do Escape Rooms Work?

Remember those point-and-click adventure games where you’re locked in a room and have to solve puzzles to find the key and escape? Those online games were the original inspiration for the live escape rooms you’ll find all across the world today. An escape room is an immersive experience where you (and your team of 2 or more people) are locked in a room with a series of puzzles for 60 minutes. To escape and win the game, you have to look for clues, solve the puzzles, and find the key. While most escape rooms only give you 60 minutes to complete the challenge, others may have shorter or longer time limits. Many venues are private rooms where you and your team are the only players. However, some places may pair you with other groups who booked a slot at the same time. And don’t worry about getting stuck, asking for hints on a difficult puzzle is totally normal. While the original escape room (created by SCRAP in 2007) had a fairly simple aesthetic, today’s escape games often take you into a different world. Artistic set designs, secret doors, and unique interactive elements are all part of the fun. It’s like an adventure game that you can interact with in real life. But if you’re hoping to preview any rooms before you book a game somewhere, detailed images and videos can be hard to find. To keep the puzzles a secret and preserve the experience of seeing the room for the first time, most venues only offer a few photos or a short trailer about the room’s theme or narrative. The only way to know what it’s like is to go and try it for yourself!
