“Rating: 4/5 This is my favorite room at this Breakout location, I've played all of them as of 2023. It's definitely one of my favorite rooms in the area out of the 20+ I've played in Indy. The set was nicely done, it was immersive enough and felt like we were in a mansion, more so than Breakout's Mystery Mansion room. I liked how they made the set feel bigger than it actually was. The theming was well done and the room would be enjoyable even if you've never played Clue. I liked the variety of puzzles and tech, they didn't rely on the usual padlock puzzles. It was a lot of fun running around the different rooms and narrowing down the clues, the game-play fit the theme well. Update: I've played almost all the rooms at this Breakout location, my personal ranking starting with my favorite: 1. Clue ❤️ 2. Museum Heist 👍 3. Bomb Squad/Undercover Alley 👍 4. Submarine Survival 👍 5. Mystery Mansion 👍 6. Runaway Train 👎 7. Kidnapping 2 👎 8. Island Escape 👎 9. The Kidnapping 👎”

“GM was fantastic! Really enjoyed the layout of the room and the pace of the puzzles. Definitely some new pieces we had to figure out, but as to be expected of a next gen escape room. Would highly recommend for a smaller group looking for a challenge. We completed it with four people.”

“Great room! Loved the genre busting theme! It felt like a real excavation adventure into a fantastical mine! It’s also 90 minutes so there is more time to breathe, solve puzzles, and soak in the scenery. The transition, while really fun, broke on us, which was super unfortunate… Puzzles were good, but the game was very lock heavy. Locks on locks on locks… and also one clue is literally wrong and made one puzzle unnecessarily frustrating. It certainly didn’t help that it led us trying to put that wrong combination into 4-5 locks at the same time… There are fun wow moments and the set design is excellent and immersive. Our group had a lot of fun! One particularly smart puzzle kept our partners very involved! Would recommend digging up this one if you’re IN the area!”

“I love Alice in Wonderland, and I’m glad it’s such a popular theme for escape rooms! Twisted Room Escape’s version is wonderful! A very thematic transition led us into a wondrous land, lit and colored in a uniquely smart way to perfection. The decorations brought such a smile to my face. The puzzles were varied, and also themed well to the source material. It’s on the easy side, but some of the riddles were tricksy. Findable poker chips add as extra prize rewards for after the game, which I thought was a genius idea. The white rabbit we had to rescue was absolutely adorable! Very pleased about this room, and I would consider it my favorite in this facility. It’s great for families, and fun for anyone who wants a magical journey into a storybook world!”

“This was one of my first escape rooms I did and, as a beginner, I was pretty impressed! The set looks cool and the puzzles were fun. There were also a few funny items in the room like dirty underwear that made us all laugh.”

“I love rooms that are creepy and slightly spooky like this! There were a few surprised that caught us off guard too. Loved the narrative and a creepy voice who is trying to scare you but at the same time guide you. Very good props and clever puzzles throughout. There is also a system in all their rooms where if you find poker chips in the rooms, you get a special prize at the end by spinning a wheel. Genius idea that acts as an extra bonus for scavengers! The vibe of this place, the tarot, the palm readings, the creepy factor, and the decor, was up my alley! Glad to add this to my collection of played rooms!”

Remember those point-and-click adventure games where you’re locked in a room and have to solve puzzles to find the key and escape? Those online games were the original inspiration for the live escape rooms you’ll find all across the world today. An escape room is an immersive experience where you (and your team of 2 or more people) are locked in a room with a series of puzzles for 60 minutes. To escape and win the game, you have to look for clues, solve the puzzles, and find the key. While most escape rooms only give you 60 minutes to complete the challenge, others may have shorter or longer time limits. Many venues are private rooms where you and your team are the only players. However, some places may pair you with other groups who booked a slot at the same time. And don’t worry about getting stuck, asking for hints on a difficult puzzle is totally normal. While the original escape room (created by SCRAP in 2007) had a fairly simple aesthetic, today’s escape games often take you into a different world. Artistic set designs, secret doors, and unique interactive elements are all part of the fun. It’s like an adventure game that you can interact with in real life. But if you’re hoping to preview any rooms before you book a game somewhere, detailed images and videos can be hard to find. To keep the puzzles a secret and preserve the experience of seeing the room for the first time, most venues only offer a few photos or a short trailer about the room’s theme or narrative. The only way to know what it’s like is to go and try it for yourself!
