The Museum District is home to the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, the Fan holds Monument Avenue and its statue of tennis pioneer Arthur Ashe, and Carytown is a popular shopping stretch of Cary Street. Byrd Park, Maymont and Hollywood Cemetery round out a day in the city, and an escape room fits right into the plan.

A fantastic 2-hour experience. The storyline was fantastic, great puzzles, beautiful set, and a really well-designed game. We ran it with 2 people and didn't quite make it in time. The puzzles were innovative and challenging but approachable. We only had a few where the puzzle itself really got the best of us. Another detail - if you or anyone in your group has color vision issues, you may find some of the tasks extra challenging - but the nudges from your fantastic game master will be there to help you through.

We did TWO rooms at Hidden Gems while on our Richmond road trip and so glad we did.

For a thousand and one years before the days of Aladdin, genies have been granting wishes to those fortunate enough to find one of their magical lamps. Each genie, by the code and laws of all magical things, must grant precisely 1,000 wishes before they are released from their service within the lamp. These wishes must be fulfilled in no less than 500 years. Balazar Bolderdash, a genie of exceptionally good disposition, has served faithfully in his own Magic Lamp for 499 years, 364 days and 23 hours and granted 999 wishes exactly. The last wish however, has been lost somewhere within the Magic Lamp. Find the wish and free Balazar before his time runs out!

This is a lovely and fun little room. Plenty to do for a larger group and the puzzles are a fun middle ground of tricky but not too challenging. I loved the atmosphere of this room, it fit the theme and felt very magical.

Your job is to navigate Nekauba’s tomb and restore the Ruby to his tomb once again.

This room instantly made our jaws drop, purely based on the size of it. We would definitely recommend coming into the game with 4 players. The story of the room was great and a great story mixed with very immersive features, like actual sand in the tomb, really make this a high quality room. There were a few non-linear puzzles throughout the room that you will either know, or you won’t know. Unfortunately for us, we didn’t know them and knew we would have to use back to back to back hints in order to solve them. We wish there was a bit more direction when solving these puzzles. We highly recommend this room!

The Tomb Ruins

In an old pub overlooking an abandoned cove, a mysterious letter has been found. Legend has it Davy Jones sailed the waters near here, and it’s up to you to solve the mysterious clues and save his ship! But don't fear! You won't be doing this alone. Mermaids in the waters outside the ship will help you solve your way to the Captain's Quarters so you can steer your way back home! Good luck, shipmates!

I have done all four rooms at this location and none of them have ever disappointed. Although there are many pirate themed rooms I felt this one was better than any others I have done. The decor and immersive experience really set it above the rest. You will not be disappointed with any Ravenchase room.

You have been dispatched by the local authorities to investigate the truth behind these allegations and uncover the real secrets behind the Elixir of Immortality…

My husband and I did this room together with our toddler. Honestly all of the rooms at this location have been excellent. A good mixture of textual and hands on puzzles, an accurate difficulty rating, amazing ambiance, a solid amount of puzzles per room/progression/pacing. You can tell the owners are enthusiasts and put a lot of love into their rooms - they have the feel of the “big company” rooms- in terms of polish and professionalism, but more unique and fun. After 40+ escape rooms these still gave us unique challenges.

Emily Redvÿn turned her own residence into an orphanage in 1781. Calling it providence home for wayward children, the facility was known to accept children who were abandoned, those with mental and physical handicaps, addictions, or just needing guidance. A century after emily’s execution for being a witch, providence reopened in the 1930’s with new ownership under the stewardship of the baron and governess. Then again after a fire in 1946 closed the orphanage down for good, in 1987 the campers and counselors at camp ashland decided to fix up the house and throw their annual halloween bash for local residents. Step inside red vein’s main indoor haunted house attraction, which includes over 40 highly detailed scenes, incredible scares, spinning tunnels, giant monsters, special effects, and screams around every corner.

In the corn field surrounding providence, spirits protect their sacred land and its family’s secrets. Garden monsters, reanimated scarecrows, the legendary bunny man, and a family of cannibals now roam the grounds. In 1987, at the height of the butcher brother family murder spree of hanover, bodies of multiple campers from camp ashland were found in the area. Rabbit’s cry field is an outdoor corn maze filled with huge walk-through set-pieces, terrifying monsters around every corner, and takes you right to the middle of the witch’s woods.

Crooked white trees that hanged the ashland witch created a barrier to the other side. These same woods were home to a traveling sideshow that heard its final call and ended their lives in ritualistic sacrifice. As branches form into jagged triangles, ancient creatures stalk the brush, craving flesh and blood. In 1987, the woods were used for campers to learn hunting and fishing. The white trees were covered in red after the massacre at camp ashland. Witch’s woods is an outdoor maze that includes uniquely memorable characters, classic set pieces and will lead you straight to providence.

Redvyn asylum opened in 1868 as one of the first mental hospitals in virginia. It was built close to the ruins of an orphanage founded by the late emily redvÿn , who was accused and executed for practicing witchcraft. Only a select number of patients were admitted to the asylum under the care of dr. Caine, and operations were extremely private. Stories of the creepy doctor spread throughout the area and children would scare each other with nursery rhymes about dr. Caine, aka dr. Insane. In 1987, the counselors of camp ashland turned the abandoned asylum into a check-in and infirmary facility for the campers. Redvyn asylum is an indoor haunted house attraction filled with moving props, highly detailed scenes, and intense scares.

Fantastic room! Fun theme, and very immersive! 
The props and decor were really well done, the puzzles were fun and novel, and a good mix of digital and mechanical.
Had a great time, really glad we chose this one!

Three magical items of immense power have been stolen and hidden in a castle. In the right hands, they can bring prosperity to the realm. But in the wrong hands, destruction and despair are certain to come. Make your way through the enchanted forest, search the castle, and retrieve the items before the story comes to an end!

Kind staff, nice room, a bit of a walk to access being in the mall. No restrooms for guests was a bummer. Room was fun, nice sound and lighting. Could use a few more seats in the empty lobby space to feel warmer and more welcoming.
