Servants of SleightThe Exit Games FLEscape roomIRLA very solid room with beautiful set design, clean puzzles, and an interesting story that packs in a few surprises. No spoilers here, there’s no good reason not to play both games at this venue as they are world-class. Highly recommended.
Pins & Needles Tattoo ParlorThe Exit Games FLEscape roomIRLThis is an exceptional game. I am not going to say anything about it, except that there is mature subject matter. Go in as unspoiled as you possibly can. Worth the drive from Orlando. Highest recommendation.
La Cathédrale Oubliée [The Forgotten Cathedral]Escaparium - LavalEscape roomIRLThis is a must-play. It would be worth going to Montreal just to play this game (but of course it is worth going to Montreal for many reasons). This is the closest I have ever been to feeling like I was in a movie. The integration of the puzzles with the scenery and the story is impeccable. You go from one jaw-dropping moment to another but always feel like it is your actions as a team that are causing the story to move forward. I can’t recommend this highly enough.
The DomeMama BazookaEscape roomIRLI don’t know what you can say about this room other than just go play it and really lean in when it starts taking unexpected turns. Go in spoiler-free if at all possible. One of the most innovative games I’ve ever seen.
Titkos Metró [Secret Subway]E-Exit Escape Room BudapestEscape roomIRLVery interesting game with some clever mechanics. Modern design with all the puzzles fully integrated into the game environment. Excellent GM support (and the game itself is mostly language-independent). Definitely deserves its spot among the top games in Budapest.
Hope EndThe Ministry Of PeculiaritiesEscape roomIRLI will write more later but for now will just say that this is a must-play. Really delightful.
Neighborhood WatcherThe Escape Ventures - OrlandoEscape roomIRLThis might be my favorite “creepy stranger locks you up” room of all time. The gamemaster (who is also the two main characters) was delightful and had just the right combination of chewing on the furniture and being hilarious. The game has an unexpected introduction and flows very smoothly throughout. It’s not very difficult but it is extremely immersive. Highly recommended.
L'Île perdue de la Reine Vaudou [The Lost Island of the Voodoo Queen]Escaparium - LavalEscape roomIRLTremendously entertaining from start to finish, although a few of the puzzles are clunky (not unsolvable, just not as clean as they could be). The game master / actor was brilliant and reacted in character to all of our bad jokes. The sets and special effects are simply spectacular. Highly recommended.
The AlchemistSherlockedEscape roomIRLThe two things an escape room needs to be memorable are a beginning that hooks you right away and an ending that leaves you in awe of what you just accomplished. This room has both. It turns out that everything between the beginning and the ending is also great. The level of craft and engineering that went into the set and the props is incredible. There are at least two elements of this room that I have never seen done in an escape room and I think I am unlikely ever to see them done anywhere else. This is simply a must-play.
Storyteller's SecretBoxarooEscape roomIRLThis is the best room I have played in the Boston area and one of my all-time top 10. I loved everything about it from the story to the set design to the interactivity and environmental surprises. This is a must play — as they tell you in the introduction, it really isn’t an escape room, it is a journey. Highly recommended.
