The Man From BeyondStrange Bird ImmersiveEscape roomIRLI loved this room! It was worth traveling to Houston to play. They made this room extra special for me and I’m so grateful to everyone at Strange Bird Immersive. I had just finished chemotherapy and treated myself to playing this room. They were kind enough to do a tarot reading for all three of us in my party and they gave us a non alcoholic spritz while we got our readings. The big box puzzle really stumped us but the answer was right in front of our faces. My friends were really worried they wouldn’t be able to solve the puzzles but it is doable for intermediate escapees. One of the keys was out before we unlocked it so they had to come in and put it away because we got ahead of the game but that still didn’t detract from our experience. I got a little teary at the end because the storyline is a little love transcending death and since I’m dealing with cancer, death has weighed heavily on my mind. I loved the way they set up the hint system. It’s a nod to the time period. There is so much attention to detail. The thank you tarot cards has a link on it and if you follow it, you’re in for more surprises. Great job on a game well made! Highly recommend hitting Traveler’s Table nearby for dinner after you play.
Storyteller's SecretBoxarooEscape roomIRLThis is not a linear room but it is a spectacular room! Our group finished in average time but didn’t break Neil Patrick Harris’ record. We crushed the first puzzle in the top 5% (2:29 vs the average of 6:19). If you love books, adventure, and teamwork, this is a must-try. The ore room tested us with tricky math, but the clever object reuses and adorable hint system made it unforgettable.
40 ThievesMindTrap Escape Room - TemeculaEscape roomIRLThe room starts off with a whimsical shadow show which sets the tone for this mystical bazaar themed escape. Watch out for things popping out at you and dropping from the ceiling. Don’t drink the water - you’ve been warned. All your senses will be engaged from feeling for snakes to smelling the goods that are sold. Crawling will be involved so get down and dirty before the thieves return.
Lockbuster Video60 to Escape - SchaumburgEscape roomIRLNothing could have prepared me for this room. I loved all the technology in it as well as the nostalgic theme. The way the movies were retrieved blew my mind. Three is a good size for seasoned players. Only thing I wished was that the winning photo did justice to the set. The light only stays on for a few seconds and it’s a cramped space.
Irvine School of Wizardry and the Goblin's SecretsHidden DonkeyEscape roomIRLI finally see why people rave about this room. I only had time to do one of the Hidden Donkey rooms and all my friend who had played said it had to be Goblin’s Secret. It lived up to the hype. The immersion is so real in this room and the last part of the experience was spectacular. I do wish they would have let us take photos with our wands in the first room. It is interesting how they’re building two tracks for two different games in one room. We did have to ask for a few hints.
Lab RatHatch EscapesEscape roomIRLTest Group D turned out to be the perfect batch of humans; we escaped with 8:37 left on the clock and never had to use the "idiot button." You can tell a lot of love went into the set - we actually felt like we were rats in an experiment gone wrong with a human sized hamster wheel, feeder tube (that'll get you wet), and treats you have to eat. The final room was a funny test and my favorite part of the "experiment.” For more escape room adventures, reviews, and discounts, follow @alyssaexplores on all social media platforms
Wizard's TaleEscape Again RoomsEscape roomIRLThe room is muuuuuuch larger than it appears. Four players would be a good size. It’s not my favorite wizard themed room but it was still an enjoyable experience. I preferred their Outlaw room over this one.
Ink & AshesExodus Escape RoomEscape roomIRLSuch a great room. We came down to the wire on this one. I loved the storyline integrated into the room and our game master Jamie was amazing! We also guessed the correct murderer at the beginning of the game.

13th BasementExit Game OC - AnaheimEscape roomIRLNot a huge fan of horror but I’m a huge fan of this room. Don’t let fear hold you back. This game is comical and creepy with some jump scares. You start off blind folded and separated but end up working together to escape with all your limbs…and maybe a few extra. Someone better know how to use a locker lock and communication is imperative. Just when you think it’s over, it’s not.
