My main complaint would be that a lot of the locks are the same type so when you solve a puzzle it’s not necessarily obvious which lock that corresponds to. Also Jay was a very friendly game master. She was on top of giving us nudges.
Invasion60 to Escape - MilwaukeeEscape roomIRLThis is a good room that’s probably worth doing if you’re in the area (but it’s not so good that I’d travel for it). The set is immersive and the puzzles were pretty good. They said this is the hardest room but we found the puzzles more straightforward than the pirate room. That said, I’ve been to plenty of other rooms where the story, puzzles, and set came together better. One thing that’s kind of obnoxious about this company is that they upsell you on getting unlimited hints (versus the built-in 6). We ended up only needing 4 but paid the extra just in case. It feels nickel-and-dimey to charge $15 for more hints.
Pirates Curse60 to Escape - MilwaukeeEscape roomIRLWent into this with reasonably high expectations based on the reviews but I’d say it was just okay. The set is good and the puzzles are fairly novel but there were a bunch of somewhat random leaps of logic and we didn’t think it fit together all that well. They have bonus puzzles, which is kind of a nice mechanism to give you more to do if you finish the room early. Unfortunately it also has the effect of leaving you slightly disappointed even if you do escape.
The AnomalyThe Other Tales Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLNot the most immersive room but they really made use of a small space. Lots of puzzles, interesting and neither too easy nor hard. Would definitely recommend if you’re in the area!
