AvalancheMaze Rooms - Robertson BlvdEscape roomIRLThe production design was truly impressive, I enjoyed most of the puzzles, I found the story to be abstract and difficult to parse. Our GM explained it to us at the end and while I appreciate what they were going for I don’t feel like they successfully communicated the beats in this medium. That said, I’d still recommend it for its impressive use of production design and interesting gameplay.
Blackwater Harbor: Echoes of the DeepEscape Room NoviEscape roomIRLThe effects were fun and the room is immersive but there is an unfortunate amount of AI used
Election DayAppleseed AvenueEscape roomIRLThe room was a lot of fun. The pace was enjoyable. I would not call it challenging it it was very immersive and fun
The Orphanage60Out - KoreatownEscape roomIRLI had a great time in this escape room. Our game master Sianne really killed it. I highly recommend this room if you are going to this location.
7 Deadly SinsEscapology - Universal CityEscape roomIRLI think Escapology is like the Burger King of escape rooms—If you are famished it can hit the spot but no one is itching to go there. The rooms are not well integrated or immersive. The staff appears overworked and the game masters give you clues that hold your hand for the next 3-5 steps instead of just nudging you in the right direction. That said, I got a gift card to come here so I wasn’t going to turn it down. This was my third room at this location and my favorite so far, but the story doesn’t make sense, many of the puzzles don’t have anything to do with the story, and the atmosphere is not immersive.
Wizard TrialsPanIQ Room - West HollywoodEscape roomIRLI would have preferred the Wizard’s voice to be a human actor rather than AI. I will not be returning to this location due to its over use of AI elements.
Wizard's Treasure60Out - HollywoodEscape roomIRLThe room was adorable. I think it would be great for younger audiences. A great family escape room! Becca, our game master was a delight!
Da Vinci's Secret60Out - HollywoodEscape roomIRLBecca made our experience a blast. This was our third room of the night and we had a great time. It is a very gen 2 escape room. We had a fun time! I’m still not completely sure what the story was, I’d say that the puzzles and the story didn’t totally align or immerse. But I had a fun time solving it all.
Doctor Psycho60Out - HollywoodEscape roomIRLMy group and I finished this room in 19 minutes and we were not trying to race through it. We’ve all done about 40-50 rooms, so nothing in the room was particularly novel. Becca, our game master, made the game for us. She was excited to see us place second and showed us how some of the cooler elements of the room worked. It was a fun room but it’s not my fave at this location.
Turing Test60Out - KoreatownEscape roomIRLThis was perhaps my least favorite escape room experience. I have done about 45 rooms and this was so infuriating. My group arrived 15 minutes early and the last group had accidentally taken a prop, so we started about 10 minutes late. No big deal. But the game master put tennis in the television on in the lobby and then proceeded to give us the instructions. I asked him to mute it as it was hard to hear him, he did. Off to a weird start. We get into the room and he immediately starts giving us hints. I mean immediately. He told me to pick up the phone (that I had already picked up) and dial the number. Why would that be hard to understand? I kept asking him to stop giving hints and he kept giving loud hints. He even told us to pick up a piece of paper and read it…. Yeah, we know. The PA system was so loud that the game master’s voice was distorted and it made it impossible to communicate with my group to solve the puzzles. I left with a headache. Additionally, several buttons were broken and when we shouted up to tell him it was not working he didn’t respond. I was so infuriated that he kept telling us the answers as we were solving it that I had an AWFUL time. I am paying you to let me solve a puzzle, if I don’t get to solve a puzzle, what is the point?
Big Brain Labs60Out - HollywoodEscape roomIRLThe production value on this was astounding. I appreciated the attention to detail and had a lot of fun in the room. It wasn’t personally my favorite room just because it felt like a lot of mini games rather than puzzles to solve but I appreciated the novel approach and how well designed everything was. I would recommend it highly to anyone!
Flynn's ArcadeBrain Games Escape RoomEscape roomIRLThis was so well made and so much fun. I cannot recommend it enough. I think it would be more fun had I come with less people. (Maybe 4). I am a sucker for great production value and technology and this had it all.
Armored Vehicle HeistThe Escape RevolutionEscape roomIRLThe production value was amazing! I really enjoyed myself in this room. There was one puzzle that didn’t make the most sense to our crew, but we got out with 12 minutes left and I believe we used two hints.
Wrongfully ConvictedThe Escape RevolutionEscape roomIRLI’m going to start by saying that I don’t love escape rooms with problematic themes. I’m not a huge fan of making light of our insanely problematic carceral system. That said, this room was done extremely well. The production value was amazing and the puzzles were spot on.
The BirdMyssTic RoomsEscape roomIRLI was referred to this location by Reddit and I had a blast. The puzzles were innovative and fun. Many of them require creative thinking that goes beyond what’s expected from the average room. I had such a a great time! Eric, our GM was so fun as well
Escobar: Part 1 (The Betrayal)The Escape RevolutionEscape roomIRLOverall, it was a really fun room. The production value was fun and the puzzles were varied. Soph, our game master, was super kind and they didn’t give too many hints
The LadderHatch EscapesEscape roomIRLThe puzzles were fun, the room is extremely fast paced. There are nine possible endings. I think the replayability is a little over stated, because once you know how the puzzles work you will fly through some parts of it, but it can change the story of the room. It was fun and I’d definitely recommend it
Spy DogsMaze Rooms - LAXEscape roomIRLI did this room with my husband and my six year old godson. He was definitely too young. It was cute but I think better suited to maybe 8 and up. The puzzles were fine, albeit there were some political references that I could’ve done without.
Treasure IslandBrain Games Escape RoomEscape roomIRLThe puzzles were good and novel. The production value was great.
They're ComingMaze Rooms - Culver CityEscape roomIRLI loved this room. It’s creative and the production quality is great. I’ve done about 35 rooms or so and this was definitely in my top five
