Paradox Project 3: Το Ωδείον [The Music Academy]Paradox ProjectEscape roomIRLWe really enjoyed this room! What I love about this company is that they inject so much meaning and philosophy behind their rooms, themes and puzzles, and it’s something you really appreciate as you play. The Music Academy is definitely the most philosophical of their rooms I would say and it’s something that adds depth to the experience. The many puzzles range from medium to very difficult- and some puzzles as others have mentioned seem a bit fastidious/unnecessary (borderline logical leap). Besides those, the experience overall was satisfying. And yes, as others have hinted, they are working on a sequel to this room to be made available in a year and a half that uses the 2nd floor of this former music academy (this game uses only the 1st floor and part basement). That brings us to widespread acknowledgement that PP excels in usage of space and the fact that this was an old former music academy gives a sense of character to the experience that you really can’t find elsewhere, especially if you’re from the states. Paradox Project 2: Το Βιβλιοπωλείον [The Bookstore]Paradox ProjectEscape roomIRLLet me say up front: we did not escape this room…even without a time limit 😭 We started around 6pm and we had to call it quits around 10:30pm (4.5 hours into the game…my wife’s pregnant and she needed to take some time sensitive meds) I want to be clear that we quit the game however, and they didn’t quit on us. As usual, the game masters are excellent and encouraging and continue to guide you well through the games. Our game master for this room was nice enough to walk us through the end (we were close) and closing sequence. But all that to say- we’ve never done a game so massive, far reaching and time intensive. 😮💨 There’s countless rooms, themes, genres, plot lines, you name it-explored. Some reviewers commented that many of these rooms could have been standalone escape rooms (I think that’s a stretch) but you get the point. The most fun way I could describe this game is that it felt like being in an amusement park for escape room enthusiasts. It was that gargantuan an experience and immersive. The biggest and longest room we’ve done by far. The puzzles ranged from medium to very difficult- I don’t think there were any logical leaps, but just some very intricate and time intensive puzzles that demand your focus and attention. You’ll be absolutely drained by the end. With that said, the story comes to a satisfying conclusion from part 1, and you do really come away with having an experience that was truly special. This room remains the crown jewel of PP, and for good reason. And it was a joy for us to commemorate Room #100 for us with this room! Rating: 8.4/10
Paradox Project 1: Η Έπαυλη [The Mansion]Paradox ProjectEscape roomIRLWe finally got around to playing the PP rooms! I read a lot of these reviews and I came in with guarded expectations but ultimately had a blast with the Mansion. The puzzles ranged from moderate to very difficult, and although I had built up a certain amount of pride as an escape artist, the PP rooms in their length, difficulty, fatigue broke me down! Don’t remember the last time I kept asking for hints. Mansion was no exception. Towards the end, whether it was mind fatigue, we just crawled towards the finish line. The story was nice however and although this is their oldest room, wear and tear did not impact my experience as much as I thought it would. Paradox Project rooms are world renowned for their creative usage of space, story and puzzles. I was certainly not disappointed with this room. For any competitive escape artists, this is for you. No one in the history of this venue has ever finished the games without hints. I suspect you won’t be the first. You’ll need to learn like me to let go of your pride and just enjoy the experience! Dark LullabyEscape Artist Greenville - Hampton StationEscape roomIRLMy wife and I got a chance to do the now #22 rated Chimera corp saga. It did not disappoint. —— Dark Lullaby was probably my least favorite due to the fact that I tense up when playing horror themed rooms. But when I say “least favorite” it does not in anyway connote that the room was subpar. Still a superior room and a worthy segment of the Chimera saga. For me it’s just the fear of jump scares that gets me. It’s not the actually characters that scare me, but the anxiety of the possible jump scare that distracts me ultimately from enjoying the rooms and puzzles. So this is a bit of a biased review. That aside, if you like scary rooms you would absolutely love this one. Despite the scare factors, I found it had solid puzzle work in addition to the immersive story telling experience. And honestly the horror wasn’t too bad. We’ve seen worse. ——- I advocate for people to do the whole trilogy. Speaking with the staff afterwards, there’s a bunch of sequences and story added between the rooms that really enrichen the experience in the trilogy play…and makes just doing the rooms as solo plays, fairly lame.
The Starlight MotelEscape Artist Greenville - DowntownEscape roomIRLWe couldn’t end our time in Greenville without doing this room. Several reviews described this room as immersive theatre where you engage/improv with an actor the whole time. I wouldn’t say that’s accurate. You definitely have your space to gain ground in the puzzles where you are left alone. And I was satisfied with the volume/quality of puzzles, at that. Still, being a horror room…with the expected jump scares, it kept us on edge but as with dark lullaby it wasn’t that bad on that aspect either. Needless to say, should you be able to stomach the tense atmosphere, a must play at this location.
Castle FlüffendorEscape Artist Greenville - Hampton StationEscape roomIRLMy wife and I got a chance to do the now #22 rated Chimera corp saga. It did not disappoint. —— Castle Fluffendor may be my favorite out of the three. World class tech, story telling, live actor interaction, overall a very enchanting and endearing room. Playing this room made me wonder, this is what it must feel like in some small measure to be at the Escaparium in Laval, Montreal. I have not been there yet, but I imagined it must be at least this good, which is indeed high praise. Incredible experience, and needless to say fully recommend. _____ I advocate for people to do the whole trilogy. Speaking with the staff afterwards, there’s a bunch of sequences and story added between the rooms that really enrichen the experience in the trilogy play…and makes just doing the rooms as solo plays, fairly lame.
Help WantedEscape Artist Greenville - Hampton StationEscape roomIRLMy wife and I got a chance to do the now #22 rated Chimera corp saga. It did not disappoint. —— If Castle Fluffendor provided the whimsical magical experience where you float along in the story and Dark Lullabye provided the horror experience, Help Wanted brings you back to nice, ingenious gritty puzzles that keep you busy on your feet working things out. And it’s done in a way where they marvelously incorporate nice tech to tell the story with actually quite a bit of actor interaction. This room really is the whole package. Puzzles to figure out. People to interact with. All leading to an immersive and satisfying conclusion to the Chimera corp saga. _________ I advocate for people to do the whole trilogy. Speaking with the staff afterwards, there’s a bunch of sequences and story added between the rooms that really enrichen the experience in the trilogy play…and makes just doing the rooms as solo plays, fairly lame.
Yuletide MagicEscape Artist Greenville - DowntownEscape roomIRLJane and I have done only one other Christmas themed room (which was a very well done room) but this one takes the cake. Clever, fun puzzles. Terrific story telling. Imaginative usage of props, technology and music to create a rich and festive Christmas atmosphere. Logical flow. Also all the rooms at this venue involve live interaction with actors and this one was no exception. But the way it was done was particularly satisfying, and I say so having done many rooms with live actors. The staff were incredible. Even as one of their less popular rooms, this room hits a high benchmark that underscores Escape artists Greenville as one of the best venues in the country. Fully recommend this room. Room finish: No hints, 55 mins.
Classified: Operation Nine LivesEscape Artist Greenville - DowntownEscape roomIRLSo I read the reviews on this room and I came into it with fairly low expectations as many were saying this was their least favorite or they dumbed this room down by saying it was just an immersive theatre experience. Having done this room, I came away very impressed. For one, the puzzles were plentiful, solid and even fairly complex. This is not just some “theatre room” where you just improv along with some actor (s). There’s a ton of satisfying puzzles and with the room being intentionally an oddball take on the spy genre, it was entertaining and humorous the whole time. Bottom line, don’t let the reviews scare you. Really enjoyed this room.
The BirdMyssTic RoomsEscape roomIRLMy favorite room here at Mysstic rooms and perhaps one of my top 10 all time. Read the other reviews, it truly lives up to the hype. For starters it delivers in that it is very creative, beautifully designed, and has an intuitive puzzle flow- as many others mention, even in such a tight space. But it also has that element which separates the good rooms from the great ones; it touches your heart and somehow through the process you find yourself enjoying an experience that transcends the genre. Needless to say, this is a must play…and I’ll even go so far to say that perhaps this is the best small business produced escape room in the 5 boroughs of NYC. Our group of 5 finished the room with no hints in about 51 mins, puzzles moderate difficulty.
Ghost LightMyssTic RoomsEscape roomIRLOf all the 3 rooms, found this to be the easiest (and shortest) by far. We finished the room in 34 minutes with our group of 5, no hints, and we were told by our GM that it was a top 5 performance for Mysstic rooms, for which we felt honored. I did remember saying out loud after finishing the room, “That’s it?” which betrayed a sense of disappointment in myself wishing there was more I guess. With that said, lest I sound like I’m complaining, some really creative and beautiful set design that added to an immersive and fairly satisfying experience. This one is a decent heart rating for me. Surprised however to see this above The Bird for finalist in TERPECA 2025. 🤷♂️
Montauk ProjectMyssTic RoomsEscape roomIRLFun room inspired off of the stranger things franchise. Probably the best room of that particular kind in the north east USA. Fans of the hit tv show will love this room. Puzzles were all solid, no logical leaps. Great story telling and production within the experience. Our group finished the room with no direct hints (one little nudge) in about 49 mins. Wasn’t too difficult for a group of 5. Would be a good challenge for a group of 2. Of all the rooms at Mysstic rooms this would be my 2nd favorite, my favorite being, “The Bird”.
Disco 54 NYCUnreal EscapesEscape roomIRLWe had a blast at DISCO 54! The whole experience was a vibe, set in a disco ball room and fun disco music playing the whole time. Never had an escape room experience quite like this in that aspect, it felt like doing an escape room during a party! In regards to difficulty I felt it was slightly challenging, we were given 2 unsolicited nudges and we asked for one hint but our group of 4 ended up finishing in about 49 mins. The puzzles were fairly logical and satisfying to complete. I attached a photo so people can get an idea of the decor, as the website doesnt leave much to the imagination. All in all, this venue may a bit out of the way but more than worth the visit!
Legend of the YetiThe Escape Game - NYC Times SquareEscape roomIRLOur friends and I were interested in this new TEG venue for a while now because of the two rooms Ruins and Yeti being available here, and after a long wait it’s finally open! We enjoyed Yeti and finished pretty early and we learned we had the honor for having the record for fastest time (35min with no hints))! The game itself was a lot of fun and the usual TEG standard of logical fairly straight forward puzzles (no logical leaps). It was rated 8/10 in difficulty but we found it easier than Ruins which was 6/10 difficulty. But the immersive elements were great, solid story telling and overall a good time with 5 of us although we did burn through it. However, when we finished the feeling wasn’t, “Is that it?” but rather the satisfaction that comes from playing a quality room. Regardless, anymore than 5 experienced players, I’d say it’d be too easy- I say 3-4 players is enough and for 2 people it would be more challenging but definitely doable. Bottom line: Expect the same great customer service, production and excellent game play from their rooms. Yeti, TEG’s most recent game is no exception.
Rock 'N' Ransom [prev. Snatched]Race Against the MachineEscape roomIRLReally fun room! Especially if you’re a fan of rock or play in band. As a rock musician myself I thoroughly enjoyed the immersive elements and tributes to rock/pop sprinkled throughout the experience. The puzzles were also pretty creative as well. I noticed one review saying puzzles were illogical…there is 1-2 puzzles I thought didn’t connect as smoothly as I had hoped but it wasn’t a big deal (we’ve experienced far worse) and for the most part my wife and I had little trouble flowing our way through this room and logical leaps/reaches weren’t too much an issue for us. Perhaps me being a musician also helped in regards to intuition. Although this room is rated more difficult than Cursed, all in all, we found it quite easier and escaped with plenty of time to spare, but don’t let that fool you into thinking it was “easy” or the puzzles were few- as with cursed, there’s plenty of things to do here. Another quality room from this venue. In regards to the venue just wanted to show some love- we were told by some others not to expect high production value from this venue and that it was low budget so I set my expectations a bit low, but was pleasantly surprised to find that the design, effects and production were pretty solid for a small business escape room. If you’re looking at the Morty ratings and figuring a visit here but are on the fence, I know how you feel! But having finally trekked out here…I say do it. Their two rooms are quality and defo worth it! I also hear they are working on a third room that is 90’s culture based and we’re looking fwd to coming back when that’s opened! 👍
CursedRace Against the MachineEscape roomIRLMy wife and I really enjoyed this room. We were pleased with the quantity as well as the quality of the clever puzzles here coupled with some solid immersive story telling as you progress. Although it’s rated the more easier of the two rooms, we found that it was particularly more difficult and we later found out that no group has ever completed the room w/o any hints. We finished overtime a few minutes and a few hints. Enthusiasts, there’s your challenge. The Heist Part 1The Puzzle ParlourEscape roomIRLWe did a marathon run of the games here at Puzzle Parlour, and this was the first. We finished it pretty quickly without any hints and with an added puzzle near the end. Like other reviews mention, puzzles are pretty easy and basic. And there’s not many to begin with. We thought this was the easiest room there and were surprised when we heard this was the 2nd hardest. 🤷♂️ All that said, for enthusiasts, if you need a confidence booster, not a bad room to try! 😂
VampireThe Puzzle ParlourEscape roomIRLTerrific room. Lots of puzzles and creative ones I’ve never come across before and great story telling along the way. Of all the rooms at Puzzle Parlour, this was my favorite. I think it helped that we finished this room without any hints and we were nearly at a breaking point on the verge of asking for one when we made a breakthrough. Always satisfying to experience that, and the whole experience was just satisfying overall. You know when you walk out of a room thinking, “that was quality”? This room fits that. Needless to say, personally think this is a must play at the venue.
Alien ConspiracyThe Puzzle ParlourEscape roomIRLThis room was billed as the hardest room here, and we did feel it offered the most in regards to challenges here. Nothing too crazy nonetheless. We needed to ask for a few facepalm hints but were able to finish the game. Enjoyed the puzzles overall and production design. Well worth playing at this venue.
The SurgeryThe Puzzle ParlourEscape roomIRLClever room with some decent puzzles throughout. We had a tougher time with this room for some reason, but managed to make it out with a few hints. Overall another quality room here that’s worth the go.
