“There was a lot to explore, and the sets were beautiful. What they have built here is quite lovely. There is also one moving mechanism here that I have seen in a few rooms, but they have done it the best. However, the audio at times was impossible to hear - in general there was lots of loud music or ambient noise. Especially in the final room. The puzzles were varied, and for the most part were really fun. There were times when we could split up and explore and solve, and there were times where collaboration was required. The actor interactions were just ok for me. The start was long winded, and the actor was a bit jarring. Also, we didn’t have time to explore before we were being bossed and told us what we should do. In general I feel the hints came too quickly, when we didn’t really need them. And we finished 20 minutes early, so we were not behind. Overall it was a really great experience.”

“a solid horror game that delivers on its momentum and moments. It doesn’t reinvent the genre, but what it does it does extremely well. Add another great final photo where the GM understood where players should be standing, how to use lighting, and what angles to shoot from.”

“Wowowow. This is probably the most beautiful room I have played until now, with a rather large playing area. The puzzles were also a lot of fun, with a nice mixture of puzzle types. What the owner has created is very impressive I now need to return so I can admire all the details.”

“The venue is inexistant like many escape room, this can be good or bad, you get in the door and the adventure starts there. You better be ready for it. You will need to be in good physical shape crawling through holes or small spaces. The set design is incredible and many great puzzles based on many classic sci-fi movies. This is a very good place to enjoy a great immersive experience”

“a game that kept us smiling even when the lights went out, literally (we had a full power outage mid game). Imaginative puzzles, kinetic reveals, and a game that has a sense of adventure, tension, and joy.”

“horror often leans on jump scares, but this game understands the architecture of dread. The performer’s movement could be a masterclass in itself. Sound and light lead and mislead just long enough to wonder if you’ve lost control of the game… or yourself. A game that understands fears is built as much as delivered.”

“What an experience! You're thrown straight in to the adventure as soon as you arrive (the door won't open until your exact booking time) so do any preparations before you arrive, including going to the toilet. The whole room is very true to the environment it's replicating, and every part worked flawlessly. It's very high pressure towards the end, but I can't recommend this room highly enough. You do need to me able to crawl and climb though, so be aware of that.”

“The best-tasting escape I've every tasted! :) Very fun intro to Barcelona rooms, but not a must-do for a trip (I'd say add it in if you have the other top games covered, or if you are with family. Kids probably won't be able to taste this room, but the whole feel of this screams "family fun". The puzzles are mostly diegetic (or at least on theme), and there's some good cooperation and physicality required from everyone on team. Everyone felt part of the game - and all puzzles could involve each person. Yum!”

“What they have built is quite impressive, and I felt like I was in a movie. The environment is quite authentic (and a little messy, in a good way). The audio was way too loud in parts (I wish I had brought my ear plugs), and it made it difficult to hear some of the audio.”

Remember those point-and-click adventure games where you’re locked in a room and have to solve puzzles to find the key and escape? Those online games were the original inspiration for the live escape rooms you’ll find all across the world today. An escape room is an immersive experience where you (and your team of 2 or more people) are locked in a room with a series of puzzles for 60 minutes. To escape and win the game, you have to look for clues, solve the puzzles, and find the key. While most escape rooms only give you 60 minutes to complete the challenge, others may have shorter or longer time limits. Many venues are private rooms where you and your team are the only players. However, some places may pair you with other groups who booked a slot at the same time. And don’t worry about getting stuck, asking for hints on a difficult puzzle is totally normal. While the original escape room (created by SCRAP in 2007) had a fairly simple aesthetic, today’s escape games often take you into a different world. Artistic set designs, secret doors, and unique interactive elements are all part of the fun. It’s like an adventure game that you can interact with in real life. But if you’re hoping to preview any rooms before you book a game somewhere, detailed images and videos can be hard to find. To keep the puzzles a secret and preserve the experience of seeing the room for the first time, most venues only offer a few photos or a short trailer about the room’s theme or narrative. The only way to know what it’s like is to go and try it for yourself!
