The Storykeeper
Locurio
Escape room
IRL
I love how the hints were integrated into the story of the room. Whimsical, immersive and tricky at times, this was a very complete experience.
Disappearance: Last Location
Will To Escape - Orlando
Escape room
IRL
This creepy, immersive room was a whole lot of fun. I loved how the stakes of the story escalated throughout the course of the game. The staff was particularly great and chatted with us for awhile about the creation of the room. If you're into dark themes, hit this one up, for sure.
Something's Out There!
Maze Rooms - West LA
Escape room
IRL
This room has a fantastic and dark atmosphere that is properly spooky. There were a couple of jump scares that made my heart skip a beat! Puzzles were linear with no red herrings, and satisfying to complete. Definitely recommend!
Project Minotaur
Quest Room - Hollywood
Escape room
IRL
Without a doubt, the best room I’ve ever done. It’s 50% escape room, 50% immersive theatre. While there are some solid puzzles, the focus is more on the experience. It was terrifying, exhilarating and unforgettable. I was seriously buzzing for hours after we left.
The Unknown
Escape Games Canada
Escape room
IRL
This is the first good room I ever did so it holds a special place in my heart. It’s also legitimately scary, in large part because of the excellent live actor. A ton of fun, I hope it comes back!
Escobar
The Escape Revolution
Escape room
IRL
Unfortunately, I didn’t have a good experience with this room due to a miscommunication with the staff. So, I left with a bad taste in my mouth… that said, I still recognize that it is a quality room. Excellent theme and set design and also quite challenging. There were a couple of puzzles that felt tedious but, all in all, still solid.
King Of The Bootleggers
Secret City Adventures - Casa Loma
Escape room
IRL
When it comes to rooms with strangers, the people you’re with can really make or break the experience. Unfortunately, we had a particularly loud and domineering participant who made the room less enjoyable than it could have been. On the plus side, the actors were excellent and the set design was beautiful and detailed. But this infuriating person has put me off mixed group rooms, in general.
Prisión [Prison]
Fox In A Box Mexico City
Escape room
IRL
This is a pretty classic prison room. Decent immersion and a hint system that is more “on theme” than most. The staff set it up well with some fun acting. Though, I didn’t find any of the puzzles particularly challenging or unique. Overall, it was decent but nothing groundbreaking.
The Curse Of Madame Zita’s Curiosities
Find & Seek
Escape room
IRL
Escape rooms are already expensive as is, so it’s frustrating when a company only gives 45 minutes. Cannot recommend for this reason alone.
Pequeña Gran Aventura [Little Great Adventure]
Enigma Rooms - Roma II
Escape room
IRL
Decent immersion and a nice mix of puzzles but some parts were way too dark. It’s frustrating when lack of light is the main obstacle for solving a puzzle. It'd be a lot better if the room were 10% brighter.
