Legend of the YetiThe Escape Game - NYC Times SquareEscape roomIRLPretty great! Finished with 2 people and 30 seconds left. Difficulty is fine, puzzles are fun and not crazy hard, but needed help a lot especially at the end since we were running out of time. Decor is solid and the yeti is very nice!
Gold RushThe Escape Game - NYC MidtownEscape roomIRLGreat set design, gameplay flow, and huge room. Very impressive and one of the better Escape Game rooms
The HeistThe Escape Game - San FranciscoEscape roomIRLBeen really looking forward to doing this one but unfortunately was pretty disappointed. It's a museum heist but most of the game does not take place in the actual "museum". The curator's office is where the majority of your time will be spent, which is honestly incredibly disappointing for me. I was expecting much more development of the museum theme and how exhibits could be incorporated into puzzles. I found the museum puzzles to be lazy and the office puzzles to be convoluted and overwhelming. Such a shame.
7 Deadly Sins - CLOSEDEscapology - Fisherman's WharfEscape roomIRLThis game is for sure SPOOKY so watch out. Not scary but definitely spooky and should be marked as such. We escaped with 2 people with 10-15 minutes left (there was something wrong with our timer at the beginning), puzzles were overall satisfying though one in particular had quite a leap that I wasn't a fan of. We also missed out on quite a big puzzle because a door was already open despite the puzzle not even being attempted yet. Too bad :( Story was good, but ending didn't provide any story elements (voice lines, good sound effects, etc) just the door opened and our GM was there. Staff is great
Whatever Happened To The Garretts?Maze Rooms - West LAEscape roomIRLOne of the best rooms I've done. Excellent use of space and soooo surprising at every turn. It was awesome!!!!
Escape Operation: End Of DaysMission Escape GamesEscape roomIRLSolid, not too special. Agreeing with some other reviews that puzzles were not really connected and felt random. Story was nothing really and there was no ending. Just pop the final piece in and the staff came in to let us out. Nice effects, props, and some satisfying hands on puzzles tho. Not disappointed! Just not wowed.
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz13th Hour Escape Room - WhartonEscape roomIRLVery immersive and matched the theme super well! Must say though, one character was not up to par. Just a werewolf from Spirit Halloween... also, they were definitely triggering some puzzles remotely before we had properly solved them. That's a big pet peeve of mine, combined with the lackluster attitude of staff, was an unsatisfying experience.
The Campground13th Hour Escape Room - WhartonEscape roomIRLAmazing set design, pretty good puzzles, and satisfying overall. Staff members were nice but GM had a weird passive aggressive vibe. Soured the experience for me even though it was a great room.
The Grand Parlor13th Hour Escape Room - WhartonEscape roomIRLI was scared of anything spooky but this room was great! I quite liked the set but it lacked just that extra umph in terms of props. Puzzles were okay but ultimately amount to shouting across the rooms to figure out object/number/letter correlations. Also you can hear concurrent players in other rooms. GM was very sweet.
Special Ops: Mysterious MarketThe Escape Game - NYC MidtownEscape roomIRLFinished with 58 seconds left!! Super tense finale
Timeliner: Train Through TimeThe Escape Game - NYC MidtownEscape roomIRLWay too many people in this room 😬 we did eight and it was super tight and not very satisfying. Maybe better with less
Prison BreakThe Escape Game - NYC MidtownEscape roomIRLBeen wanting to do this one for a while! Loved starting in two different rooms (not a spoiler), it's a really nice concept that I think other games should incorporate more often. This was really fun and unexpectedly large. I don't know why it's level 9, I felt the puzzles were pretty fast to figure out but maybe I just had a good team. As always with The Escape Game though I can't stand that it is not a private experience. We luckily had no one else but I would absolutely hate having to do this room with a stranger. You're literally in a cell. Maybe they need the extra cash flow to maintain the *very* high quality rooms but man some rooms really just need to be private. Thanks Wendell for the great customer service ✌️
Sacred StonesSolve It SherlockEscape roomIRLThis room was great, puzzles were cool and could be challenging. Set design was really nice, tech was working well overall except for one bug. There was a really cool moment that I was a big fan of but I won't spoil it 🤗 Couple things wasn't a fan of: Thin walls so you can hear people in the other rooms. Puzzles were challenging but there actually weren't that many. Was fun in the moment but feels a bit small after the fact. A lot of the challenge comes from overcomplicated symbol design, which takes away some satisfaction from solving
Scooby-Doo™ and the Spooky Castle AdventureEscapology - FayettevilleEscape roomIRLMy first room escaped with just two people! It was a fun, moderately challenging one with immersive set design and great puzzle flow. I was not expecting such a quality representation of the Scooby Doo franchise but it seemed super official with original (or at least original sounding) voice acting, great props, and references to past villains. I can imagine this being a bit too easy for groups larger than 4! It seemed like there were no real divide and conquer opportunities. Perfect for an efficient and experienced duo!
Magic KingdomMaze Rooms - VermontEscape roomIRLUnfortunately there were some broken/janky parts so we got some late game objects early and some puzzles I thought we did wrong but really the inputs were slow. Staff was super nice but ppl before us had broken something else so he was super stressed 🥲 Puzzles were innovative and different from many rooms I've done so far. If everything was in working order I think it would've been amazing! Maybe just unfortunate timing with the state of the room currently.
Sal's CyberneticsThe Immersive MachineEscape roomIRLWOW! I can't wait for their next room. This room had a great theme, beautiful design and immersion. Puzzles were great and felt VERY satisfying to figure out. Loved the banter with Crumbz.
The BirdMyssTic RoomsEscape roomIRLHad so much fun, the room was beautiful and the puzzles were amazing. We got stuck on some stuff which is always disappointing, some our fault but one thing in particular had a frustrating mechanic that was time consuming. Still had an amazing experience!
Paint Bomb MissionBeat The Bomb - BrooklynEscape roomIRLOther Fun but not an escape room! Series of challenges and actually pretty physical in parts. Fulfilled my dream of maneuvering around lasers.
