    This game is a mixture of escape room and theatre. The whole experience starts when you enter the building, and the decor getting to the room itself is all done by the company, even though it’s in an office park. Be sure to read the signs for things in the lobby, they’re pretty funny. Once you get into the second waiting area, the game master/receptionist never breaks character and gives you the info you need to play the game in a very thoughtful way. When we played they also served drinks to us ahead of the game (alcoholic or non-alcoholic depending on your needs). The game itself is very well designed, not much in the way of locks and boxes, the tech flowed very well and wasn’t obvious. The whole experience lasted a couple of hours and told a great story. This is the only game SBI has, and it’s all they’ve had for a few years, but if they ever get another room going we will be running back to houston to play it!

    What can we say about cutthroat? It’s definitely among the best of the best. With such a large building, the designers really get a chance to build the awesome immersive experiences like many escape rooms dream of. Wear closed shoes for this one as there’s sand just like Anubis. It really is a room best played with a large group as you’ll need the people to cover the ground and clues, and you can really divide and conquer once you’ve gotten into it. Like all of their games, the room progresses through a great storyline, and nothing seems out of place.

    I’m not a fan of horror games or ones with jump scares. This game is all of that. We had a designated victim that we would send into new spaces to experience the scare before the rest of the team would go in. Definitely the most haunted house feeling room at 13th gate. The sound effects really give a tone to the whole thing that keeps you in a run for your life kind of feeling.

    Inventors attic is a cool little room, emphasis on the little. Play with a smaller group as some parts can be a little cramped. Good addition to the immersive experience of EMR, they really set the bar for full immersion experience, the only other place I’ve seen similar is Strangebird Immersive.

    This game is played nearly all in pitch black dark. We played it as a doubles team and got out, and honestly I think if you had a larger group it might make it more difficult. The whole game is about tactile feedback, exploring your other senses when sight is gone. It was fun, but the other games at this location are a lot better.

    This is hands down the most impressive room I’ve ever played anywhere I’ve been. The scale and attention to the scenics is something all rooms should aspire to match. We played it twice, both times with a large group, and we got out once and one time did not. There’s so much to see and do, and so much of it ties together that communication between the splinter teams has to be great or you might miss where something gets used. It’s a whole lot, but it’s super gratifying when you finish.

    I love how EMR builds their rooms to be continuations in a large story about the Delaporte family. They all tie together, and as you play the other rooms you find connections to where you’ve been. This is the 2nd room in the series. Some really cool tech in the room, and we missed a lot when playing it because there’s so much.

    This was one of the first rooms EMR did, and it is great. It’s mostly boxes and locks, but there is some tech along the way too. We didn’t realize it, but there’s actually a second game within it if you solve the exit quick enough. We solved the exit, but didn’t win the bonus game.
