The DeLaporte Family coffers have run dry and the city is threatening to put the house up for a tax sale. You are called to investigate the dark and cramped wine cellar, as it was rumored that Silver Dollar Sam and his band of rum runners once used it as a storehouse. Can you find enough loot to help save the DeLaporte home, or will you be stuck forever by one of the many booby traps?

“I enjoyed this! Definitely took a learning curve to gain confidence walking around in the dark, but the puzzles were clever for the pitch black situation. The ending was a little anti-climatic, but overall super fun!”

Join forces with the police and grieving DeLaporte family members as they comb the crime scene for evidence. Can the two groups cooperate long enough to solve this 60-year-old crime, or will the answers be lost forever?

“This game is 3 parts - with part 1 being the main objective with 2&3 as add ons, as time permits. With a team of 2, we escaped part 1 (the murderer) in 32:11. We were able to do parts 2&3 (the why & the how) in another 10 minutes and 17.5 minutes, respectively. It was SO much fun! Great theme, great puzzles, lots of fun surprises, and adds to the overall theme of the mansion. The best room in New Orleans!”

Can you help Molly with her investigation into Marie’s Voodoo curse and find a way to quiet the taunting voices once and for all?

“This room was great, a really immersive simulation of St. Louis Cemetery #1. The walls and gates had great patina and the multiple rooms all felt convincing and real. Great economy of space, as well. There’s a missed opportunity to add some atmospheric sounds to the experience, as the room felt too quiet and sonically dull. In spite of the ancient feel, we used some pretty cool modern tech to complete a large-format puzzle. It was a cool implementation of technology, even if the puzzle itself ended up turning into a laborious task of translation. Finally, there was a debate within our group regarding whether or not outside knowledge is required to complete the room. I’ll just settle it once and for all and say: You need to be familiar with ONE very famous actor who has a soft spot for New Orleans!”

The room was a bit dim for our not-so-great eyesight, but we managed. We’ll definitely come back and play another room with Clue Carré the next time we visit NOLA.”

How Do Escape Rooms Work?

Remember those point-and-click adventure games where you’re locked in a room and have to solve puzzles to find the key and escape? Those online games were the original inspiration for the live escape rooms you’ll find all across the world today. An escape room is an immersive experience where you (and your team of 2 or more people) are locked in a room with a series of puzzles for 60 minutes. To escape and win the game, you have to look for clues, solve the puzzles, and find the key. While most escape rooms only give you 60 minutes to complete the challenge, others may have shorter or longer time limits. Many venues are private rooms where you and your team are the only players. However, some places may pair you with other groups who booked a slot at the same time. And don’t worry about getting stuck, asking for hints on a difficult puzzle is totally normal. While the original escape room (created by SCRAP in 2007) had a fairly simple aesthetic, today’s escape games often take you into a different world. Artistic set designs, secret doors, and unique interactive elements are all part of the fun. It’s like an adventure game that you can interact with in real life. But if you’re hoping to preview any rooms before you book a game somewhere, detailed images and videos can be hard to find. To keep the puzzles a secret and preserve the experience of seeing the room for the first time, most venues only offer a few photos or a short trailer about the room’s theme or narrative. The only way to know what it’s like is to go and try it for yourself!
