This city is a place of complete darkness. In this escape, you will not be able to use your phone, your smart watch, or any other light source. Your vision will be of no help to you, and you will be relying solely on your other senses. This room CAN be fully enjoyed by blind or visually impaired players! And hopefully, players without visual impairments will leave this experience with a new appreciation for people who navigate the world without the use of sight. This room is truly a unique experience, find out if you have what it takes to restore the sun and escape!

“My wife and I really enjoyed this room. It is so different than any other Escape room we have done. Fortunately, even different than another dark room that we have done. This room truly made you use all the other senses. Our GM Cullen was great and helped us when we needed a few nudges. He graciously allowed us to finish even though we ran over. He also allowed us to walk the room afterwards with the lights on. Amazing how such a simple room can be so fun and challenging. Must do room here.”

The Dracula Museum is a place of great infamy: from the cryptic and haunting artifacts that adorn its walls, to its history of visitors mysteriously disappearing, and the rumors of it being home to a real vampire. But you don’t believe in any of that stuff, and you’re going to prove once and for all it’s all fake; after all, they are just rumors, right? They can’t possibly be true…

“This was our first at nerd escapes and we were impressed. Definitely one of the best and most immersive rooms in the Triangle. Beautiful staging and prop design with intuitive puzzles. Annabelle was an exceptional host. The storyline was also interesting. Even though the room wasn't overloaded with puzzles, the pacing felt very good.”

You’ve been caught! The KGB has arrested you for tampering with government secrets, and has left you in a holding cell while they get backup. You hear their tires screech, and you estimate they’ll be gone for an hour at the most. You will have to find an information that can help millions; it’s all up to you now, you have to get out of this room. Do you have what it takes to escape before they return?

“Wow what a room! This room definitely needs at least two people to do. I’m on a work trip and did this room solo. By far one of the hardest rooms I’ve ever done. Started to panic towards the end, but got it done. Thought the room flowed super well from beginning to end.”

You wake up in a prison cell. Your head hurts. You have no memory of how you got there, or why. You don’t know how long you’ve been unconscious. You have so many questions, and there is only one thing that feels more important than getting your answers: getting out!

“My wife and I enjoyed this room. Very well themed. Puzzles/activities fit the theme of the room. This room really forced you to think outside the box of most escape rooms since it had almost no riddles and traditional locks. We needed a few nudges but they were always a "duh" moment.”

“Brought friends along for their first escape room experience, but turns out six adults was too many for the room - two to four would have been better. Difficulty level was medium, and we got out with quite a bit of time to spare. We liked the atmosphere, set design, and puzzle variety. A great game for new players. There's other rooms out there with the same name and design that we've seen but not played that are offered by different companies.”

“The Attic is a really interesting escape room with a few jumpscares thrown in. They are listed as mild but some can be quite startling. The puzzles and room are so well-themed and the story unravels as you play. The basis is that you are off to babysit a child where her last babysitters mysteriously disappeared. A lot of fun, a good medium difficulty level. I would recommend about 2-3 in this room.”

“The Tower Keeper room was such a memorable experience! Being inside a historical building added so much atmosphere and made the setting feel truly authentic—you can’t beat the ambiance. The puzzles were creative, well-designed, and kept us engaged from start to finish, with a great flow that made the gameplay both challenging and rewarding. On top of the room itself, the staff treated us wonderfully and really elevated the whole experience. Their hospitality, combined with the unique environment and clever puzzle design, made this one of the best escape rooms we’ve done. Highly recommend checking it out if you’re in Durham!”

How Do Escape Rooms Work?

Remember those point-and-click adventure games where you’re locked in a room and have to solve puzzles to find the key and escape? Those online games were the original inspiration for the live escape rooms you’ll find all across the world today. An escape room is an immersive experience where you (and your team of 2 or more people) are locked in a room with a series of puzzles for 60 minutes. To escape and win the game, you have to look for clues, solve the puzzles, and find the key. While most escape rooms only give you 60 minutes to complete the challenge, others may have shorter or longer time limits. Many venues are private rooms where you and your team are the only players. However, some places may pair you with other groups who booked a slot at the same time. And don’t worry about getting stuck, asking for hints on a difficult puzzle is totally normal. While the original escape room (created by SCRAP in 2007) had a fairly simple aesthetic, today’s escape games often take you into a different world. Artistic set designs, secret doors, and unique interactive elements are all part of the fun. It’s like an adventure game that you can interact with in real life. But if you’re hoping to preview any rooms before you book a game somewhere, detailed images and videos can be hard to find. To keep the puzzles a secret and preserve the experience of seeing the room for the first time, most venues only offer a few photos or a short trailer about the room’s theme or narrative. The only way to know what it’s like is to go and try it for yourself!
