Help the government explore the retro-futuristic world of Robotopia. Dr. Sarah Cube, the creator of the first sentient AI, has kept it hidden from the public for several decades. Can your investigation unit uncover the secrets of Robotopia and discover advanced AI technology that would greatly benefit mankind?

“A technical marvel as to be expected from our new robot overlords! This 2-hour saga spawns lots of rooms and tasks. Many of them are creative ones we haven’t seen anywhere else. The whole thing plays out like one big point-and-click adventure game with NPC robots that talk to you, and tasks that require critical problem solving. The way this room utilizes its small set is mind blowing. The finale is thrilling, and got my heart so pumping. This daunting experience is intended for more than 4 people, but we got through it with 2 of us and assistance from our friendly GM. I loved all the robot references! I for one welcome our new robot overlords! All hail Robotopia!”

Chef Ramses II is in a bit of a pickle. A well-known food critic is about to visit one of his under-managed restaurants. Can you manage his chaotic kitchen and help him in completing orders before he gets bombarded with bad reviews?

“Absolute chaos in the best way possible! If you love puzzles, this is the room for you. The frenzy of recipes presented to you makes for a fast-paced experience. My group of 3 went in knowing there would be a lot to do, so we hit the ground running and it was genuinely exhilarating trying to bounce around to different puzzles without pausing for transitions or story beats. It honestly felt like we were chefs working in a kitchen slammed for the dinner rush, cooking in parallel but calling out for each other when we needed info or a second pair of eyes. The sheer volume of puzzles already had me sold, but the variety and mechanics of the room were outright impressive.”

Can your team rise to the occasion and escape with the diamond or will you be caught and tried as accomplices in what would be the greatest diamond heist in history?

“Really fun room with a lot to do for a larger group. Some puzzle sets were easier than others, and some were pretty challenging, but great use of tech and excellent set design. Multiple puzzles that can be solved simultaneously make it great with more players.”

A dark curse surrounds Haruka High School after the mysterious death of one of its beloved students. As you search for answers, you realize there is something more sinister lurking behind this tragedy. Can you uncover the truth and break the curse before your time runs out?

“This room ended up being a pleasant surprise! Not always a huge fan of horror since it runs the risk of sidelining puzzles, but this room is still authentically an escape room. The gameplay complements the narrative wonderfully, and I was satisfied as a puzzle enthusiast. The real strengths of the room lie in the set design and theatrics though, and they culminated in a truly memorable experience. I found myself admiring each room I went through. The story was refreshingly more engaging than typical escape rooms, and my group ended up being invested in the details for the fun of it. Easily one of my favorite Omescape rooms!”

Hong Kong Crime Lord Mr. X is looking for an heir to his vast underground empire.Only two crime families were considered worthy of the prize, the Dragon and Tiger gangs. Which gang will win this intense head-to-head competition and become the new rulers of Hong Kong? 6-12 of your friends split into two groups, the Dragon and Tiger gangs, and battle it out as rival mobsters in this epic escape room experience. Each player will get unique roles and personal puzzles

“The team vs team aspect of the game is very novel, I’m a very competitive person so it was really fun for me to see how we were doing and be able to see the progress on the other team as well, even though we didn’t cross paths and were working on different puzzles. The puzzles themselves were not super hard (we were able to get through with only one hint, but only because we couldn’t find one specific mechanism) but very on theme. For teams, for 90% of the time we were solving the same puzzles but differently themed so it made the competition very fair. However the other team had trouble with one of the unique puzzles given the color of things was not clear which made it harder for them, hope they fix that and make the colors more distinct The story is also easy to follow and flows well with the puzzles which I appreciate given a lot of other escape rooms only make a theme to follow rather than a story”

There’s a pointless split that I wasn’t a fan of, but otherwise the room flows well in a mostly linear fashion as you find the fractured fairy tales. It’s a great room for children too to experience their escape ever afters!”

Once a beacon for weary travelers, Motel Molly promised rest beneath its glowing neon sign. But those days are gone. The rooms sit abandoned, and whatever lingers inside is far from welcoming. It was here that Olivia disappeared without a trace. Her husband, Noah, followed, certain the motel held the answers—only to vanish himself. Now, Noah’s desperate call has reached you, his closest friends. To uncover the truth, you must retrace his steps and face whatever secrets hide within these walls… before they close in around you.

“Although the rooms are overall better in the Sunnyvale location for Omescape, Motel Molly is definitely in the company’s top tier of games! It is a terrific and terrifying experience. After braving the mild spicy version of Haunting at Haruka High, we decided to play the default scary version of this game. While there were indeed scary moments, darkness, loud sounds, and a live actor, it wasn’t as scary as Haruka High. Which is good for us since we’re scaredy cats! The story, flow, set, and cinematic moments are all well done! The lore is interesting and I wish it was clearer without having to read things so I could better appreciate the finale. Book your stay at Motel Molly, if you dare!”

You’ll need to harness all your tactical skills and training if you’re ever going to put a stop to this global catastrophe. Through all the twists and turns you have to ask yourself…how deep does the conspiracy go?

“Tier: A (see bio) It’s insane how a game of this caliber can be reproduced across the entire country. Definitely the best game I have played from a major chain (note: I have not played any other games from The Escape Game yet). A great immersive storytelling game with solid puzzles, a great atmosphere change, and enough plot to make you feel like the main characters in your own espionage film. (This also would work well as an introduction to escape rooms though it would definitely be a harder beginner game.)”

Feed the antimatter to the black hole to end its rampage and save the solar system!

“This was a very well done escape room. Some of the puzzles I have never seen before or since. The flow of the puzzles could be done in a non-linear fashion, which was awesome. You weren't blocked by one puzzle if you couldn't solve it for a lot of the experience, vs some other rooms where you really need to do most puzzles sequentially.”

Your dear friend Detective William Occam recently passed away while investigating a case about a 10-year-old missing girl, Nina. Following his death, you received a mysterious letter. Addressed to his closest friends, a single message was left behind: “There are two sides to every man, the one that you see and the one hidden behind the scenes. I can only be the real me when I go fishing on the lake. Memories I will never forget.”

“Phenomenal! Immersive, storyline-driven, and with clear progression. We are two adults and two kids, and this is our new favorite escape room. What we liked most was that it was more than a game; it was an experience. We enjoyed the story and being part of it. All of the staff were incredibly friendly and dedicated to us having a good time. The fact that the game has different endings depending on the choices you make is such a unique feature. We’ll be back for Chapter 2.”

“We did rooms 1-3 all in one playthrough. The continuation of characters through the stories was an amusing bonus. This room was a very different experience than most others since it is more of a score at the end which created lots of amusing arguing among our team about what our points should be traded for. They made some fun decisions to force the team to divide up multiple times during gameplay. Overall, totally worth it to play all the games in sequence at Off The Couch games.”

“Off the Couch is World Class. We did all 3 rooms in the same day and played them in order. Simply put, this is an experience you will never forget. Every Room has unique puzzles and elements I’ve never seen before. I’ve done over 115 rooms and counting. The interaction you have with each story creates a world of immersion that is top tier. You can feel the amount of care, passion, and thought that went into building these rooms. These are longer rooms which is worth every moment you are in them. If there is only 1 company that you have an option to do a room in in the Bay Area it is off the couch. Everyone person that I interacted with were extremely friendly and helpful. Games masters have an awesome way of communicating based on which room you are doing.”

Learn More about San Jose Escape Rooms

San Jose is home to several exciting escape rooms that offer challenging experiences for participants. One of the most popular options is the Beat the Lock Escape Room, which features rooms like "The Asylum," "The Heist," and "The Apocalypse." These rooms are designed to test participants' puzzle-solving and critical thinking skills while offering a thrilling adventure. Another notable escape room in San Jose is Real Escape Room, which offers multiple rooms with unique themes, including "Escape from the Bank," "Escape from the Time Travel Lab," and "Escape from the Prison." Other popular options in San Jose include Xcapade Entertainment, which features rooms like "The Da Vinci Code" and "Escape from the Jungle," and Omescape, which offers rooms like "The Kingdom" and "The Penitentiary." Whether you're looking for a fun activity with friends or a unique team-building experience for your company, San Jose's escape rooms offer something for everyone.

How Do Escape Rooms Work?

Remember those point-and-click adventure games where you’re locked in a room and have to solve puzzles to find the key and escape? Those online games were the original inspiration for the live escape rooms you’ll find all across the world today. An escape room is an immersive experience where you (and your team of 2 or more people) are locked in a room with a series of puzzles for 60 minutes. To escape and win the game, you have to look for clues, solve the puzzles, and find the key. While most escape rooms only give you 60 minutes to complete the challenge, others may have shorter or longer time limits. Many venues are private rooms where you and your team are the only players. However, some places may pair you with other groups who booked a slot at the same time. And don’t worry about getting stuck, asking for hints on a difficult puzzle is totally normal. While the original escape room (created by SCRAP in 2007) had a fairly simple aesthetic, today’s escape games often take you into a different world. Artistic set designs, secret doors, and unique interactive elements are all part of the fun. It’s like an adventure game that you can interact with in real life. But if you’re hoping to preview any rooms before you book a game somewhere, detailed images and videos can be hard to find. To keep the puzzles a secret and preserve the experience of seeing the room for the first time, most venues only offer a few photos or a short trailer about the room’s theme or narrative. The only way to know what it’s like is to go and try it for yourself!
