Three years have passed since her disappearance and you have been called to the Dorchester estate as a potential heir. As inheritor to her estate, you are now entitled to claim her wealth and property as dictated by her will. The Dorchester Estate holds many artifacts and valuables, but it is said her most prized possessions are hidden in her study. By unlocking the secrets found within, you may find the answer to the question: What happened to Dionora Dorchester?

“This is my favourite of their rooms. There was a really nice story and some choice as well, as to how it progresses. (I had to play solo due to traveling alone, but I would have loved to see how one story piece would have played out.. iykyk.) There was a good variety of puzzles, some nice effects, including audio and video.”

People have been mysteriously going missing at The Carnival of the Cosmos. Many suspect a murder most foul, however you and your team of new recruits think there is something much more cosmic to blame… Play your way through the Carnival’s challenges to solve the mystery and save yourselves in the process. Luckily all the clowns are on vacation!

“My husband, roommate, and I were some of the beta testers for this room. When I initial marked this room I gave it a thumbs down but after years have passed and I returned to update all of my reviews I am remembering this in an entirely different light. The story was a lot of fun and I loved the twists and turns that came out as the story unfolded itself to us. The set was amazing and all of the different sections has a unique look and feel that really helped to immerse you into the story. I really liked the old school feel of the carnival and the games. They brought back to all of the church bazaars we used to go to as a child. The puzzles were on the easier side until the very end and then there was a little challenge to make the finale worthwhile. I have alway loved the rooms here and I hope I get the chance to return to the area and play their newest game.”

Many consider Prison Break our most difficult escape room. Players are split into two different prison cells and must work together to get out of a 1950s style prison. A successful escape will include a sneaky trip to the warden’s office. An unsuccessful escape will land you in prison forever. Yes, those are real prison toilets….what can we say? We are obsessed with creating realistic environments.

“Absolutely fantastic room! Large and each set piece more interesting than the last, though the ending was anticlimactic. Make sure you go with a large group you know, or else your group will be put with a group of strangers who spam the hint button every five minutes…regardless, the atmosphere was amazing.”

60 Minutes to claim the Ancient Treasure Your journey begins aboard the wreckage of an old propeller plane after an unexpected “landing” amidst your aerial tour of the jungle. Luckily, your group is unharmed and unfazed! Your pilot and tour guide extraordinaire, the unflappable Captain Mac, has ejected to safety and calls in to shed light on your predicament. You’ve miraculously stumbled upon the legendary Ehlari Ruins - home to a mythical treasure (and no doubt an abundance of obstacles). Will you be the party to finally find and claim the fabled riches?

“My fourth game at this location (and my favorite) and was lucky enough to have only our group of two. Very manageable and fun, immersive experience. Not too hard but some puzzles were thinkers. Highly recommend going at weird hours as to have a private room in this location, as it’s much more enjoyable. Note that ~two puzzles were guesswork (for us at least).”

Destroy the black hole! Your humble spaceship is blindsided by a ferocious and hungry black hole. If it’s not stopped within the hour, the entire solar system will be consumed! Your only hope is a nearby space station harboring antimatter to blow the black hole (and everything around it) to smithereens! Feed the antimatter to the black hole to end its rampage and save the solar system!

“I’m a sucker for a space theme, and this one delivered! We did this with a group of six and it felt like everyone was able to contribute in a meaningful way. As is par for the course with this team, we made our lives a lot more difficult on ourselves by not using the tools we had. Such a great game with such a great ending. As always, The Escape Game has beautiful sets that are very high tech! Thoroughly enjoyed!”

Left for dead in a basement locked up in a makeshift cell – there is no way out and the killer promises to return within one hour to finish the job. Our basement themed escape room has been called the most detailed and largest escape room of its kind in America. This escape room features SIX different rooms with realistic scenery, electronic puzzles, mysteries, and much more. This is our scariest themed escape room but more than suitable for ages 12+.

“I have done this room twice. The first time I enjoyed it tremendously and thought it was very well done. The second time I did the owner had added new puzzles and experiences to "improve" it and, in my opinion, lessened the experience. I don't know if there any changes since I last played it so I don't know what to tell you at this point. The set is the high point of the rooms here and I cannot fault them (if you do them when they first open). The upkeep doesn't seem to be a priority and when I have gone back to do the new rooms or redo a room with new people I have been disappointed to find things have fallen into disrepair. This room it is a little harder to notice since it is a serial killer's basement but I did notice a lot of the original puzzles were not working properly. Two of the puzzles were obviously triggered from the GM as opposed to us solving the puzzle. One time it was triggered long before we reached the solution. The puzzles, originally, were well thought out and challenging. In the new version, the puzzles had been swapped out and some of the original clues were left behind. I would check with more recent reviews as experiences may vary.”

Learn More about St. Louis Escape Rooms

Many of the best escape rooms in St. Louis come from independent local operators. In downtown Maplewood, Escape From St. Louis runs Vanished, a 75-minute search for a missing collector of occult treasures, Carnival of the Cosmos, a mystery about people who disappear at a strange carnival, and Wizard Quest. South County has Frozen Tundra Task Force: Project YETI at Boxed In Escape Rooms in Concord Plaza. For a group that wants several themes under one roof, The Escape Game at City Foundry STL runs five rooms in one building. Whether you want a light first game or a hard puzzle for an experienced team, St. Louis has an attraction for it.

How Do Escape Rooms Work?

Remember those point-and-click adventure games where you're locked in a room and have to solve puzzles to find the key and escape? Those online games were the original inspiration for the live escape rooms you'll find all across the world today. An escape room is an immersive experience where you and your team of 2 or more people are locked in a room with a series of puzzles, usually for 60 minutes. To escape and win, you look for clues, solve the puzzles and find the key. Some escape rooms give you more or less time. Many venues are private rooms where your team is the only group inside. Some places may pair you with other groups who booked the same time slot. And don't worry about getting stuck: asking for a hint on a difficult puzzle is totally normal. The original escape room (created by SCRAP in 2007) had a fairly simple look, but today's escape rooms often take you into a different world. Detailed sets, secret doors and interactive effects are all part of the fun. It's like an adventure game you can step into in real life. Detailed photos and videos of an escape room can be hard to find before you go. To keep the puzzles a secret, most operators only share a few photos or a short trailer about the theme or story. The only way to know what it's like is to go and try it for yourself!
