It was the perfect vacation, white sandy beaches, a beautiful self serve resort, a talking fish? … til you lost your wallet! How are you and your friends going to pay your tab now?! Rumor has it that this seemingly quaint tiki bar was built on the site of a long lost pirate treasure… maybe you can find something to get that crazy manager off your back! Will your team solve the mystery and live to tell the tale?

“One of the best experiences I’ve had. We played both Flynn’s arcade and Treasure island. Let me start off by saying Greg the game master was the best. He did both of our games and was amazing. My kids 7 and 5 enjoyed as our GM as well. Both sets are top tier. There is plenty to do in both rooms. I say play them back to back. You won’t be disappointed. Brain Games know what they are doing. They will immerse you in the best way that you won’t want to leave the world you are in.”

Step into an ’80s-style arcade and relive the golden age of gaming. But beneath the glow and sound, something isn’t quite right. The machines are glitching… and their creator has disappeared. To find him, you’ll need to do more than play. Leap into a glowing world beyond the circuit board. What starts as nostalgic fun becomes a neon soaked digital adventure as you uncover a reality hidden beyond the screen. Step inside. The games are more real than you ever imagined.

“Flynn’s Arcade is a room that feels as good to play as it is to look at. Pictures give off the exact 80s aesthetic the room is going for. I won’t spoil anything but the progression of the room is surprising, from entrances that reveal themselves to the rooms you get to explore, there’s so much hidden and it’s satisfying the whole time. In our game one piece did not activate automatically which stuck my team in one spot a little longer than we wanted but even then we got out with some 25 minutes remaining. The puzzles are a mix of classic codes and locks and Survivor-esque challenges that keep gameplay exciting. Highly recommended this one.”

Discover an attic shrouded in secrets, where the whispers of unsettled spirits fill the air. With the Duke as your guide, you’ll dive into a world of mystery, solving puzzles to fulfill each ghost’s final wish, helping them move into the afterlife. Will you unravel the attic’s mysteries and bring peace to its forgotten souls?

“I had a fantastic time. I’m very much not good with scary rooms and this was more scooby doo/detectives/ghostbusters/gravity falls/goosebumps. No real jump scares when we went and we thought it was more funny than scary. But that can likely change based on who you get as your gm. I can definitely see how the game master can make or break this game. It’s also definitely a game where you get out the energy you put in. It’s very gm driven/heavy. We had Jon and we enjoyed our experience and had a good time! I didn’t think there were any too hard puzzles and they were all themed pretty well and fit with the story. LOTS of running around, and the game starts at the top of a set of stairs. I’ve never been this out of breath in a game in a hot minute.”

You arrive at a nondescript black door with a green light... You knock. The door slowly swings open and you're invited in... Welcome to Stash House Your group has been invited to a seemingly-normal Koreatown apartment owned by a local entrepreneur to discuss a business opportunity. Shortly after arriving, you discover the apartment belongs to Ray Jones, notorious Los Angeles drug kingpin, and that Ray has a test in store for you: find all the drugs hidden in the space and flush them before the cops arrive or face the consequences. Stash House is a ninety-minute escape experience that explores the dark underbelly of crime in Los Angeles. Does your crew have what it takes to pass the test?

“This was an amazing escape room. There were unique and challenging puzzles, the set was fantastic, and there were opportunities to split up our team and to work together!! The flow was amazing. The game recommends 4-6 players, and we did it with 3 experienced players and escaped just in time. I definitely wouldn’t want a massive group, but the ability to split up and work in separate puzzles makes having more people helpful. I definitely wouldn’t recommend having fewer than 4. This game is challenging and would not be great for beginners. Overall, this is one of my favorite escape rooms that my group has ever done. I would definitely check it out.”

Lab Rat takes place in a laboratory where giant rats are doing odd experiments on human beings, specifically you! The somewhat unhinged Ratkenstein, a doctoral student in the field of human intelligence (or, in his estimation, the lack thereof), has tasked you with completing a series of tests and puzzles. If you succeed, he can finally write his dissertation. If you fail, he’s going to put you and your friends in the old test-subject chipper (like a wood chipper, but for test subjects!). You’ll have one hour to complete the tests and attempt to get out of the laboratory for good, before Ratkenstein turns you into mulch!

“Great room, lots of fun to play. Not too complicated with fun interactive puzzles. A light and joyful kind of room. Didn’t care for the creepy rat guy but that was just story that got a little unnecessarily uncomfortable for me, but the room was solid.”

A woman named Josie has recently passed away, leaving behind a storage room filled with decades of collected memories and cryptic secrets. Remnants of her entire life are all here in one place - left for you to discover. As a young girl growing up in the 1960s, Josie was gifted a tape recorder and began documenting every part of her life. But in her old age, she has become almost unrecognizable, warped by the tragic events of her past. The Nest is an intimate, live experience for two audience members at a time, combining elements of immersive theater, narrative video games, serialized podcasts, and escape rooms into a new way to experience a story. Equipped with a flashlight, search through personal effects, explore your surroundings, and listen to audio cassettes to piece together the dramatic narrative of Josie's life.

“WOW. What a moving experience. As an escape room enthusiast it was incredible learning how to just move with the flow of the story and not think so hard about puzzles, not everything needs to be analyzed under a microscope. They let you take your time, and if the GM is calling to nudge you forward, they do it completely in character and you don’t realize what they’re even doing when they call. They’re more of a companion than someone running the room. The point here is to listen to Josie’s journey and essentially wander through her memories under the guise of a storage unit. Doing this in a group of 2 as the only people in the building late at night other than our GM was part of the experience, it allowed us to take our time and let go, let the boxes and tapes guide our way. The very last room is overwhelming, depending on the mood you are in after the main room itself, this last one can be beautiful or heartbreaking. I could have spent an hour in that room alone. There is some sensitive subject matter that is warned about ahead of time and puts a very true depth into this story that may or may not be real. It takes up space in my mind and heart and I don’t really care if it’s real or fake because I felt every second of it, Hatch did an amazing job at this that I’ve not seen anywhere else ever. Highly recommended for small groups with open hearts.”

A brand new waking nightmare presented by The Basement: A Live Escape Room Experience, Dead & Breakfast is a private escape adventure designed to test you in ways you never thought possible! You and your friends have been kidnapped by Edward Tandy -- a cannibalistic serial killer with a hunger for taxidermy, strange mechanisms, and of course human flesh. He has created a twisted game in his deceased mother's home, designed to weed out those who are unworthy of escaping with their lives. Beginning at 10am, Mondays-Thursdays only, guests are invited into the Tandy household for a day they’ll never forget. Featuring ALL FOUR of our escape room experiences: play them back-to-back in a private, VIP setting. Ever felt like you needed MORE TIME during your game? During Dead & Breakfast, you and your team will play until you complete each experience!

“As a birthday party of 4, this was an awesome experience. Back to back story was really fun. The GMs were really cool and nice and made our experience rad. We were the only ones there and no matter how quick we finished a room we were only given a few minutes in between, which was confusing to me because we were supposed to have 90 minutes for each room (way too much, I think the whole place could make all their rooms 1 hour and give way fewer hints) and got out in the usual 45 minutes as they gave us hints all the time a whole lot. If you’re in it for story, this was great. If you’re in it to solve puzzles and feel smart and see amazing novel ideas or tech, this might not be for you. I loved it for my birthday party although none of the rooms were amazing stand outs.”

You finally make it outside but are surrounded by a 12-foot fence: a police officer in a cage, an old camper, and rabid dogs snarl nearby. The Courtyard is one of our most impressive experiences for its sheer scale. Many guests are shocked to learn they are not actually outside, and it features a uniquely memorable live-performer interaction unlike anything else in our lineup. What makes The Courtyard special? You have made it outside the Tandy house, then hit a 14-foot fence, the home’s façade, and a full camper to explore. Non-linear puzzle tracks let big groups split up, search, and reconnect before time runs out. EXPLORE & SPLIT UP Multiple areas, physical moments, and clues that only make sense once your team compares notes. A captive in a cage is central to the story, and affected by what you do. This experience's live performer: Meet "Officer Quinn" Quinn loved Lilly, and Lilly loved her back. But the things Lilly shared about her father began to paint an eerie picture. Strange behavior. Dark gaps in the story. As an officer of the law, she couldn't just ignore these signs... her hunches. So Quinn came to the Tandy property looking for clues, and found more than she bargained for. Now she lingers in The Courtyard, caged, broken, and hooked to some sort of medical machinery. She came for answers in the pursuit of justice, but now she's just another character in your nightmare.

“Room felt bigger than it really was with the great set design. They made being inside during the day feel like it was outside at night. Good use of the live actor use as GM, as well as part of puzzles. Do note that you will need at least 1 player in your group that can crawl into a tight space. Over all it was great, immersive and overall a great story.”

Plato, a prodigy of philosophy and wisdom, once wrote, “there occurred violent earthquakes and floods; and in a single day and night of misfortune the great city of Atlantis in like manner disappeared in the depths of the sea. For the people of Atlantis housed the greatest exponents of concrete wisdom & technology the world had ever known.” In 2019, Oceanic Inc, an oceanography company based from Los Angeles, pinpointed the exact location of the city of Atlantis with the use of a newly redeveloped electron radar known as Magnetic Anomaly Detection. With its location submerged under the icy-cold waters of the Atlantic Ocean, Oceanic scientists deployed a magnitude of technological developments and barriers that provided researchers & engineers direct access to the entrance gates of Atlantis. Unsuccessful in manipulating the secrets to enter the city gates, Oceanic Inc, is now hiring a team of scientists, historians, and archeologists that may possess the intelligence required to enter the ancient city and ultimately unveil the anticipated phenomena of Atlantis: The Forgotten City.

“Really great escape room! There was a lot to explore and discover and tons of well thought out puzzles. The space was surprisingly large. The decorations were very immersive and the high tech mechanisms were really impressive. Our game master was awesome. He was super friendly and you could tell he was genuinely passionate about escape rooms. We arrived late and he was very accommodating and made it work for us. Overall it was an awesome experience and definitely one of the best escape rooms I’ve done. Highly recommend!”

It’s a whole new level of gore!

“This was my favorite house this year, which really surprised me because I’m not a massive fan of Terrifier. It was less scary than I thought it would be, but a lot more fun! Each scene was super distinct and memorable, and the attention to detail was immaculate! I always love some good gross-out horror when it’s done with a slightly comedic tone. All of the Arts also really sold their performances.”

It's been over a year since your friend has gone missing, however you've never stopped searching. Newly discovered photos and information has led you to the largest wetlands in south central Louisiana. Knowing that your friend is a dedicated hiker and daring explorer, all signs point to the Haddonfield Territory, a sovereign region, off the grid, at the base of the Appalachian Mountains. It's uncharted, dangerous and uninhabitable. To make matters worse, you've learned that a string of missing person cases litter the surrounding area leaving locals to believe that there's more than just the dense thicket and treacherous wildlife within. For you, the path is clear: If you want to find your friend, you must head to Louisiana and venture deep inside the Haddonfield Territory.

“The atmosphere of this game was top notch! So immersive! It felt as if you were truly outside when you first enter the room. We took a little bit to get started, but once we did, the flow between puzzles was really smooth. We had no problems solving the room with three people and only struggled on the final puzzle. Probably our favorite set design of the three rooms at this location (though it’s stiff competition). All of the puzzles were unique and non-conventional. There was only one key used in the room, but its use fit the theme perfectly.”

Journey back to 1960s Hong Kong, in a fully-realized recreation of the notorious Kowloon Walled City. Your mission is to stop the Black Dragon Gang, who have taken control of the city. Make your way inside this dark labyrinth of tiny shops and narrow alleys, on a secretive mission to stop the Black Dragon Gang … before they stop you.

“Black Dragon had been on my list for a while. The pictures online make it look very cool and in person it’s even more-so. Though there is a live gamemaster/actor in the room, they are really just set dressing if you’re capable enough at escape rooms. Some rooms force the human element into the game so much that it ruins your personal experience. This was a perfectly balanced use of a live actor. My main gripe about the gameplay is there is so much to do you truly NEED more than 2 people to complete everything in time. Though I usually play with one other person, I played here with 5 friends and as much as we had a great time, I always hate the feeling of missing something. The gameplay and puzzles were phenomenal otherwise… I guess that’s the double-edged sword of it all: you make everything so fun and engaging to solve that when someone else does it you feel you’re missing out. Really awesome room.”

It was a normal summer, just like you’ve always had. The sun was getting closer to setting and you knew you needed to be home soon- but those lights. Those blinking, hypnotic lights. They called to you. You weren’t sure if you had ever seen something so beautiful. Curiosity drove you and your friends forward- ducking between branches as you pushed deeper into the neighboring forests hoping for just a second to hold the light in your hand. You’d seen these forests every day for so long but they began to look foreign to you. Where were you? Was there always a house here? The lights were gone. But maybe (just maybe) if you open the door you can find them. Only the truly Brave would push forward- are you ready to enter? Warlocked is an Adventure Fantasy game like no other. Set in a magical kingdom known only as Questoria, you and your friends will be tasked with saving a wizard, his heir and their kingdom from doom at the hands of an evil Warlock. You only have 60 minutes to free them and restore the magic of Questoria! Are you Brave enough to open the door?

“I rate this escape experience a 5/5 (ck out my bio for rating system). This game was filled with surprises at every turn (literally). It was definitely enchanting! The set was off the charts great - 2 pts here! I did not expect this from an escape room hidden in a mall. Each part of the experience was filled with adventure and great special effects. The theme flowed well and ended with a unique and quite humorous ending with fun- loving characters sprinkled in between to assist you. Puzzles got 1.5 pts. They also flowed well with the theme and involved quite a bit of interactive play. Lots to do so it was somewhat challenging for 2 people. Thank goodness for our trusty sidekick! 🐻 I rate my enjoyment 1.5 pts. The only thing that did not go well was that their AC system was broken and my copious amounts of sweat did not feel so enchanting in the middle of summer. Hopefully they've fixed this by now because morning should distract from this amazing room!”

I loved every second of it and didn’t want it to end. 2 people is the perfect amount for this room. It isn’t super difficult, we only needed one hint. I had a smile on my face thoroughly the entire room. I didn’t feel stressed, and I loved how instead of solving a case or problem, it was just fun mini games that lead to one big finish. I have never experienced anything like this and this defiantly makes the number one spot without a doubt!”

“This was a fantastic set with well-themed and well-sequenced puzzles. A good one for a mixed party of experienced and inexperienced puzzlers. Kim was a great host from start to finish. We were drawn in from the very beginning.”

You have 60 minutes to escape from prison, or it’s your life. No pressure. You and your group of friends have been sentenced to life without possibility of parole. You are rotting in a maximum security prison. The catch? You didn't do it. While waiting for someone to help you, you plead for your life in court, but your appeals have been denied again and again. Your entire group was set up, and the only proof that will set you free, is outside of the walls of the prison. Since the criminal justice system is broken, the only thing you can do now is rely on those inside to help you escape. It seems everyone in the prison - the cook, the janitor, all of the trustees - all believe you, and will work together to make sure you don't rot in prison for the crime you didn't commit. But will their help be enough?

“I can understand how people see this as Revolution’s best room. It’s got it all: 2 floors, a ton of puzzles, jumpsuits, a [cool way of getting from one floor to the other that I won’t spoil]. Your group starts separate like any classic prison break room and from the very start you have break things to get out. THIS really felt like escaping. On the side of their building it says “It’s Not a Game” and I felt that in this one. Wrongfully Convicted was deeply immersive and had us doubling back to solve puzzles, with one of the best/hardest final puzzles I’ve ever been tasked of solving in a room.”

You have 60 minutes to find what escobar needs, or your family will die. Can you save them? The year is 1993. You’re a mid-level Sicario working for Pablo Escobar in Medellin, Colombia. You receive news that Escobar is furious—one of his most trusted allies has betrayed him. In his rage, Escobar killed the informer, who happened to be the only one who knows where your boss’s money and fake passport are hidden. The DEA are on their way to the clandestine cocaine lab, and Escobar desperately needs his money and passport to flee the country, and he’s demanded that you find them. If Escobar doesn’t get these things before the DEA arrives, he’s sworn to murder your entire family in revenge. He’ll have no mercy on you, and neither will the DEA.

“This was such a cool experience. My group of 2 did both this and wrongfully convicted back to back. Both were so immersive and had maybe the best/most realistic sets I’ve seen in an escape room. There were also some really cool aspects I haven’t seen in other rooms. I definitely would recommend going with a larger group for both rooms. We thought that the puzzles could’ve flowed better and used more direction. For both wrongfully convicted and Escobar, the puzzles were very difference from a typical escape room and very much geared to keeping the experience as immersive as possible. I just think that the puzzles could be better and more intuitive overall. I enjoyed Escobar slightly more than Wrongfully but both were fantastic experiences and I recommend doing both if you’re in LA. Also, Carmen was such an awesome game master. She was so attentive and helpful throughout the entire experience!”

Step into a reality that fights back. Glitches flicker in the corners of your vision, shadows shift when no one is there, and the surveillance watching you is far more alive than it should be. Objects appear where nothing existed seconds before, alarms roar without warning, and something in the system seems to… notice you.

“This room was great. Multi-layered puzzles, lots of thinking outside the box, and fun surprises along the way. It was scarier than anticipated, but I felt like that added to my enjoyment. Knowing The Matrix movies certainly adds to the room, but it felt like a good balance of a world existing inside of that concept.”

Luckily, you’ve got a great squad and everyone brings something different to the table. Band together to ace the ultimate group project. Pass or fail, you’re in this together!

“One of the funnest more enjoyable rooms I’ve done in a while. There is so much to do, 2 people wasn’t a great idea. Definitely recommend 3 as a minimum. Puzzles were very on theme for the room and made sense with everything. Easy enough to piece together and great use of space Our GM, Joe was also a fun dude. Very happy to have him brief us and chat after the game. Everything about play that room was great!”

An extension of the films “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” and the original “Jumanji,” this 4 – 8 player experience begins with you sneaking into your friend's room, but he doesn't seem to be coming anytime soon, so you start snooping around a bit. After uncovering a series of puzzles you get sucked into the world of JUMANJI and need to do whatever it takes to survive this new, wild world you’ve discovered.

“Jumanji was our first 60out escape room and it was great! We ended up finishing all the rooms at the Melrose location, and Jumanji was definitely the highlight there. It's really on theme, and knowing the general idea of the movie definitely makes it more enjoyable. Puzzles were fun and different.”

Learn More About Los Angeles Escape Rooms

The escape room scene is alive in Los Angeles. Since the first escape rooms arrived in Los Angeles in 2016, the film capital of the United States hasn’t stopped crafting these immersive puzzle experiences. In fact, Los Angeles proper is home to 49 different escape room venues. If you look around, you’ll notice several places that are expanding the definition of experiential entertainment in Hollywood. From the expansive Escape Hotel on Hollywood Boulevard to the innovative Escape Revolution on Melrose Avenue, there’s plenty to experience in the City of Angels. With over 170 escape games in the entire area, the possibilities are nearly endless — you’ll find games with themes of horror, adventure, crime, espionage, and plenty you may not expect.

How Do Escape Rooms Work?

Remember those point-and-click adventure games where you’re locked in a room and have to solve puzzles to find the key and escape? Those online games were the original inspiration for the live escape rooms you’ll find all across the world today. An escape room is an immersive experience where you (and your team of 2 or more people) are locked in a room with a series of puzzles for 60 minutes. To escape and win the game, you have to look for clues, solve the puzzles, and find the key. While most escape rooms only give you 60 minutes to complete the challenge, others may have shorter or longer time limits. Many venues are private rooms where you and your team are the only players. However, some places may pair you with other groups who booked a slot at the same time. And don’t worry about getting stuck, asking for hints on a difficult puzzle is totally normal. While the original escape room (created by SCRAP in 2007) had a fairly simple aesthetic, today’s escape games often take you into a different world. Artistic set designs, secret doors, and unique interactive elements are all part of the fun. It’s like an adventure game that you can interact with in real life. But if you’re hoping to preview any rooms before you book a game somewhere, detailed images and videos can be hard to find. To keep the puzzles a secret and preserve the experience of seeing the room for the first time, most venues only offer a few photos or a short trailer about the room’s theme or narrative. The only way to know what it’s like is to go and try it for yourself!
