Uncover the entrance at the Edison room, tame the challenges and get the reward for your input, a great invention towards success. It’s a total worth to be here.

“The Edison Escape Room was another amazing experience at Palace Games. The atmosphere matched the story and theme really well, and the puzzles actually made sense with what the room was trying to accomplish. Nothing felt completely out of place, and the puzzles tied nicely into the Edison theme. The **wow factor in this room was especially impressive** because it made perfect sense considering what Thomas Edison was known for. I don’t want to spoil anything, but when those moments happened, they felt earned and fit the theme perfectly rather than just being there for shock value. Another thing I really appreciated was the **use of space**. The room was designed very intelligently, and they knew exactly how to utilize the available space to make the experience feel bigger and more interesting. There were several moments where I was impressed by how creatively the room was laid out. Overall, The Edison Escape Room was definitely another awesome game. Great atmosphere, smart puzzles, excellent use of space, and some really memorable moments. **5/5 – Another amazing Palace Games experience and absolutely worth playing!**”

The Roosevelt, former American president had united the master minds together, to plan a world war 1, to end all the other wars in the world. Collaborate and win.

“The Roosevelt Escape Room was another amazing experience at Palace Games. The atmosphere was really cool, and the theme matched the puzzles extremely well. Everything felt like it belonged in the world of the room rather than having puzzles thrown in just for the sake of having them. What really surprised me was the **wow factor later in the game**. I definitely was not expecting it, and when it happened, it completely elevated the experience for me. It was one of those moments that made the room feel much bigger and more impressive than I originally expected. The puzzles were fun, the theming was strong, and the surprises throughout the room made the entire experience feel memorable from beginning to end. Once again, Palace Games delivered **one of the best escape room experiences I’ve had so far**. The Roosevelt Escape Room is absolutely worth playing, especially if you enjoy immersive rooms that build up to some genuinely awesome moments. **5/5 – Another must-play room at Palace Games!**”

Palace Games has discovered another secret inner-sanctum within the walls of the Palace of Fine Arts. This mysterious attraction premiered at San Francisco's World’s Fair in 1915, but was then immediately condemned for reasons unknown. After an arduous restoration effort, Palace Games reopened this secret marvel of the 1915 fair. We've yet to uncover its odd purpose. Are you bold enough to solve the mind-bending mystery of The Attraction?

“The Attraction was absolutely incredible and easily had the best atmosphere I’ve seen in an escape room so far. From the moment the experience starts, the way it draws you into the world of the room is amazing. The set design, atmosphere, and overall presentation made it feel like you were stepping into an entirely different place rather than just playing another escape room. I will say that the puzzles themselves were a little lackluster compared to some of the other Palace Games rooms. However, I honestly look at The Attraction as more of an experience than a traditional puzzle-heavy escape room. The immersion and overall journey are really what make this room special. Having played over 60 escape rooms, The Attraction is definitely one of the best rooms I’ve experienced so far. Even if the puzzles weren’t the strongest part, the atmosphere and immersion more than made up for it and created something extremely memorable. I absolutely loved this room and would highly recommend playing it with friends or family. The Attraction is a must-play experience and easily one of my favorite escape rooms to date. 5/5 – Incredible atmosphere, unforgettable experience, and highly recommended!”

The great Houdini is a test for American innovators. Many magic puzzles and brilliant minds can only get through this. Crack the clues and prove your intellect.

“The Great Houdini was easily one of the best puzzle-room experiences I’ve ever had. From the moment we stepped inside, the atmosphere matched the story perfectly and made the entire experience feel immersive. The puzzles also made sense within the theme, which is something I really appreciate in an escape room. One thing to know going in: there are A LOT of puzzles in this room. My team of seven definitely struggled at times because there was so much to work through, but that honestly made the experience even more memorable. We were constantly communicating, splitting up, and trying to figure out what to tackle next. Even with the moments where we got stuck, we had an absolutely fantastic time. The room kept us busy from beginning to end, and there was rarely a moment where someone didn't have something to work on. Overall, The Great Houdini is one of, if not the best, puzzle-focused escape rooms I’ve ever played. Challenging, immersive, packed with things to do, and incredibly satisfying. If you enjoy rooms with a high puzzle count and love having your entire team constantly engaged, this is an absolute must-play. 5/5 – One of my favorite escape room experiences so far!”

IT STARTED AS A ROUTINE OPERATION You and your fellow field agents were sent to investigate the area’s local market. It’s late, it’s quiet… but something’s not quite right. Just as you are about to wrap up your inspection, you encounter a twist you never expected. Should you have seen this coming?

“I did three games with this company while I was in SF and this was my favorite of them. All three were great rooms but, in this one, the story takes a dramatic twist halfway through which is SO fun, and the second act puzzles are INCREDIBLY fun, involving some high-tech stuff that felt really snappy and well-designed. Did this with two people, and we're pretty sure we went a few minutes over time, haha—the GM very kindly snuck some extra minutes on the clock so we could finish solving the (very cool) last puzzle. Had a blast!”

Your new “home” is a cell that once belonged to an inmate who disappeared without a trace…or did he? Some claim he escaped. Others swear he was murdered by the infamously cruel warden. But no one actually knows… can you escape before you suffer the same fate?

“So far, my favorite game at The Escape Game besides Ruins. Split start is utilized well, set looks fantastic, and clever puzzles that make you feel smart. Above all, it’s a very immersive experience, from lighting to sound design to the set and puzzles themselves.”

The 1800s California gold rush was a time when just about anyone could get lucky with a fortune. No one knew this better than your recently deceased relative, Clyde Hamilton. Though he’s since passed, the prospector left behind quite a pretty penny in gold. As his surviving next of kin, he’s offered you a chance to claim the gold fortune as an inheritance for yourself…if you can find it! You’ve only got 60 minutes to get into Clyde’s cabin and take the gold stash before news of the fortune reaches other greedy ears in town…

“With the most unique puzzle lineup of any game I've played, this room just might also have the best puzzles out of any room I've played - Timeliner's theme just barely keeps it from being my favorite room of all time. The room itself was incredibly immersive as well, and with production value you can only find from The Escape Game. Out of 22 escape rooms I’ve played at the time of writing, this one ranks a very close 2nd.”

The night’s finally here. You and some of the other inmates are making a break for it. They have the getaway raft but in order to escape, someone has to cut the power to the block. That's in the warden's office - guess who's cell is closest. It's almost time, there's some things in your cell to help you, but this escape won't happen without you. You ready?

“Now here’s a real Alcatraz escape room! Don’t get thrown into prison in the fake ones (and I guess, also not the real non-escape room one). This is mostly similar to the regular prison break room, which we had done before. It’s about 40% different, though we still had to ask the GM which parts exactly differed. Overall, still fun, a classic split start prison break with interesting puzzles and tasks. It’s a public room so be sure warned you may have prison mates. We got a private room thankfully, but when we did the original, we were cramped with a group of 6. This game is well-themed for Fisherman’s Wharf, and this specific version is exclusive to SF!”

“Glad we came back to do this room. Both Candy Factory and this were amazing rooms with lots of classic and unique elements. This room was more challenging and they warned us of that. It was tough for a party of two with some of the puzzles being non-linear and requiring splitting up but using some of the same clues. There was one puzzle that we hadn't seen/felt before and it was fun. They treated us great and I highly recommend this location and the two rooms we did there.”

Learn More about San Francisco Escape Rooms

San Francisco is home to many escape rooms that offer thrilling and immersive experiences for participants. One such escape room is Palace Games, located in the historic Palace of Fine Arts. Their rooms are designed to take players back in time and include themes like "The Great Houdini Escape Room" and "The Roosevelt Escape Room." Another popular option is the Real Escape Game, which has multiple locations in San Francisco and offers unique escape rooms like "Escape from the Time Travel Lab" and "Escape from the Bank." Other notable escape rooms in San Francisco include EscapeSF, which features rooms like "The Experiment" and "Escape from Alcatraz," and EscapeIQ, which offers challenging and interactive rooms like "The Hex Room" and "The Elevator." Whether you're a local or visiting San Francisco, these escape rooms offer a fun and exciting way to test your problem-solving skills and enjoy a unique adventure.

How Do Escape Rooms Work?

Remember those point-and-click adventure games where you’re locked in a room and have to solve puzzles to find the key and escape? Those online games were the original inspiration for the live escape rooms you’ll find all across the world today. An escape room is an immersive experience where you (and your team of 2 or more people) are locked in a room with a series of puzzles for 60 minutes. To escape and win the game, you have to look for clues, solve the puzzles, and find the key. While most escape rooms only give you 60 minutes to complete the challenge, others may have shorter or longer time limits. Many venues are private rooms where you and your team are the only players. However, some places may pair you with other groups who booked a slot at the same time. And don’t worry about getting stuck, asking for hints on a difficult puzzle is totally normal. While the original escape room (created by SCRAP in 2007) had a fairly simple aesthetic, today’s escape games often take you into a different world. Artistic set designs, secret doors, and unique interactive elements are all part of the fun. It’s like an adventure game that you can interact with in real life. But if you’re hoping to preview any rooms before you book a game somewhere, detailed images and videos can be hard to find. To keep the puzzles a secret and preserve the experience of seeing the room for the first time, most venues only offer a few photos or a short trailer about the room’s theme or narrative. The only way to know what it’s like is to go and try it for yourself!
